Key West, FL March 24, 2011 – 35 miles West of Key West, Florida on the shipwreck site of the Nuestra Senora de Atocha a four foot long gold chain adorned with an intricately designed black enameled gold cross, a two sided gold religious medallion, a black bead and a gold floweret was uncovered by Mel Fisher's Treasures salvage vessel; JB Magruder and her crew: Captain Andy Matroci, First Mate Ryan Stapula and crewmembers Bill Burt and Tim Meade. www.melfisher.com/SalvageOperations/RecentFinds/032511_RelArt/Cross.aspThe pictures of the gold chain are noteworthy and might stimulate some ideas for wrappers & smithy folks

Wow, that cross and chain is beautiful! I watch a lot of shows on the discovery and history channels. Im always amazed at the recovered jewelry....they just dont make things like that anymore....and if they do, it costs an arm and a leg.

A large emerald ring is pictured in the hand of Sean Fisher, in this photograph taken on June 23, 2011 and released on July 2, 2011. Divers in the Florida Keys recovered the ring and two silver spoons from Nuestra Senora de Atocha, a shipwrecked Spanish galleon that has already yielded one of the greatest treasures ever recovered from the sea. Employees for Mel Fisher's Treasure, named for its founder and Fisher's late grandfather, believe the latest haul signals that they are close to finding the sterncastle, a key missing portion of the ship.
