Well now I'm bummed. I called the lady with the wood this morning to get her address and directions and she told me I had to be in and out of there by noon because the city is closing the street in front of her house for an International Bike Race. She forgot all about it when we last spoke and it wasn't til the city workers were out this morning bringing in the barriers that she remembered. All revved up and nowhere to go.

Post a sign over the biker sign at the ladies house. Have it explain that the new race goal is to take a piece of this pet wood and race it to Ed's house! Points will be awarded for extra weight.

On the rare occasion I get wood I phone my wife and we get together ASAP to make the best of it. Can't be wasting wood.
Seriously, hear on Vancouver Island I found several fossilized logs in the strata of certain river cuts, unfortunately I doubt I can recover any samples without destroying it and impacting the surrounding area. Kind of like the what some folks have been doing to coastal fossil beds.

Success! Five and a half hour driving time, half hour to load it in the truck, and well worth the time and money. The pictures in the ebay auction didn't do this stuff justice at all. I've got to unload it now and wash it down, then I'll take some good pics and post it up in the photos section.

That's 5 1/2 hours total, 2 hrs, 45min one way, 17gals. of gas. I just got done unloading and weighing everthing, came out to 614lbs. So they didn't do too bad guesstamating how much it weighed. I'm not gonna squabble over 86lbs, it's still a good price. Okay, I'm rested now, time for the pics.
