Rocks were actually a lifesaver for me. I grew up in an abusive, dysfunctional foster home in Missouri and I used to go to the woods every chance I could get away and as I would spend hours walking along the creek bed, fascinated by the colors, shapes, and smoothness of the rock, and it's like the rest of the world went away. Then I joined the Navy, got away from rocks for a while until I came to Texas, saw the agates and petrified wood and got back into rocks with a vengeance.

Sheri, you forgot to mention the chips and bean dip!
This is all my dog's fault. Four and a half years ago we got a cute little golden retriever puppy and named her Angie. Well, Angie was a handfull so I looked for parks to take her for long walks to tire her out. Well, one park I found had some interesting rocks. I researched and researched and found the rocks. they were an intriguing type of Moonstone. Then I wanted to make them shiny. I found this site and the rest is history.
Now our search for rocks has expanded to the whole country as we've become full time RVers/rockhounds/lapidary junkies. My mate, Bill, has picked up the bug too, although not as badly as I have it... I'm terminal. Jo
