I recently was given some new pictures that were taken when I was collecting at the Summer Rose Claim, earlier this year. This claim is in the Greenhorn Mountains in California Here is the claim Here is a photo of me beginning to split a 300lb boulder I worked out of the deposit the first split I split this piece in half and here are the three pieces at home You can see the hole that I left by taking out this boulder. It is the dark spot above the head of the person with the white shirt that is a little right of center. I sure would love to see some of the spheres that members here planned to make. Even a report on the progress would be nice. If I had a sphere machine I would have made me one or two!!

That's pretty awesome, Christopher. I take it that white/pink area in the center of the top photo is pretty much all rose quartz? That's pretty cool.

Dang! How super cool is that! How much do you think that chunk weighed? Were you able to park your truck nearby or did you have to pack those chunks out for a stretch? Jo

Who needs dynamite? Just call Christopher! Now I know why you were shopping for a larger saw. Plus you need a larger bucket!

Beautiful stuff! How cool to get to see the claim where you dug it, that outcropping is something else!

Paul,
Yes what you see there is a huge outcropping of Rose and Lavender Quartz. It reminds me of a huge bowl of strawberry ice-cream!
Jo,
The first split was right at 75lbs, the other two were over 100lbs each. I had to pack them back up the side of the mountain about 1/4 mile. I had to take the pieces up one at a time and had to stop a few times along the way. The claim is at about 6500ft elevation so the air is thin up there.
Tim,
You got a deal!!! There is a very good chance that spheres made out of this material will have 6 ray stars in them.
Grayfingers,
This place is MAJESTIC to me. I was blown away the first time I was invited to dig there. It is just so BEAUTIFUL! I am awed each time I have visited this site.

Well, I finally got around to finishing the sphere from the material I got from Christopher. I had to wait for the spring warm up here in Phoenix. ;D Here is a pic of it lit up from the bottom side. I think that I am going to have to make some lighted sphere stands. Tim
