... I'm a year older
I have no gifts to offer for the winner of this competition, so if you are only in it for the prizes then you're already a loser.
The competition is - Guess The Mileage?
During the last 632 days I have been riding my bicycle to places I'd never have dreamt of going to.
All you have to do is guess the total miles I have physically cycled during such a short time. There are no 'Air miles, nor Ship miles included in this distance. It is purely cycled miles.
I'll help out from the start and give a run down of where I've been;
Left Northern England and headed south to London then Dover.
Crossed channel to France then went, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Serbia Hungary, Bulgaria, into Romania (where I met Adrian) back into Bulgaria, and then across Turkey into Iran.
Flew from Iran (Tehran) to India - cycled Mumbai, Goa Chennai, then flew to Singapore.
Cycled Singapore (it took less than three hours, it's a small place.) Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China.
Took a ferry to Japan, and cycled Japan.
Then flew Tokyo to L.A (Los Angeles)
Cycled old Route 66 to Oklahoma City - taking in places like Flagstaff, Tucumcari, Gallup, Homo'Lovi , Santa Rosa, Winslow, to name a few places (Not necessarily in order).
From Oklahoma City kept heading East towards Virginia, finally ending in Virginia Beach - where I happened to meet the most amazing American family I can think of
It never ended there - From the States I flew to Australia (where I was seeking work). I cycled from Perth to Darwen, and then returned to Perth.
Flew again to India where I took an 8 week break to slow me down and try and keep pace with warmer weather (I didn't want to get back to England in winter.)
From India I flew to Casablanca by International flight, then took and onward domestic flight to Tantan in the Moroccan Sahara. Cycled North to Agadir, Safi, El Jadida, Casablanca (I missed it ), Rabat, Kenitra and then Tanger (Tangiers). I spent the last day of 2011 on the African Continent, and on New Years Day I took another ferry across the water to Europe and Spain (Espania).
There you have the long and short of it. Shouldn't be too difficult to work out the miles ;D Oh, and I added miles during my rest periods too, so try to think of a few miles to add to your distances.
Good Luck - and THERE IS NO PRIZE FOR ANYONE.
