This coming Friday thru Sunday 3/9-3/11 is the Victor Valley Gem & Mineral Club tailgate show near Stoddard Wells. Last year I didn't find out about this show until the week after. Can't wait to see Christopher's display and meeting RTH forum members in person. Best part is the show is held out in the boonies of the desert. My favorite location! www.vvgmc.org/tailgate.htmlLarryS

I was planning on going over on Thursday and returning maybe Friday. When we used to go there dealers arrived early to get the "prime spots".

This is a free show. No vendor fees.....you can donate a few bucks for the porta-potties...
just show up drop your tailgate and have a blast!!
I will be there this year as a vendor. This will be my second year doing this show. Last year was my first time I set up as a vendor. This is the perfect place to set up and test the waters....at least for me it is. I had a great time. I am taking the wife and kids this year.
I will be setting up Thursday, hope I get a good spot.
Hope to see a bunch of our California members out there or any other members for that matter.
I will be wearing my RTH T-shirt so keep and eye out for me and stop by to say hello!!
Christopher

We were planning on going Friday (busy Sat. & Sun), but now that's changed and we can only go on Thursday. We were wondering if there is going to be anyone set up on Thursday or if that is too early. We've never been before. Just heard about it.

We set up there in the past. Dealers would start arriving Monday or Tuesday to grab the prime spots. It is a funny layout for a show. It is basically at the bottom of the hill where the Verde Antique marble mine is. There are several small dirt roads winding through there. The vendors park along the roads and set up. We got there too late one year and set up where the road forks off the main road. We watched many customers walk up the main road and come back down too tired to bother with our fork. There isn't any kind of clearing just park amongst the creosote wherever you can. I understand a Victorville club member owns the property and allows the show only if nothing is charged. One year a dealer went around and collected a donation for the outhouses/trash cans. He came back around and gave everyone's money back. He was told the property owner felt as long as there was no charge he wouldn't be under any liability. They may have relaxed this by now. Always a great show if the weather is nice. Our 60 mph winds with blowing dust/sand ended during the night and the weekend forecast is good. I'll be wandering around Thursday shopping/visiting. Look for a good looking old guy with a little black and white dog.

John - any chance you'll be sticking around through Saturday? If so, I'll track you down. I'd like to get a chance to meet you in person . Christopher - will be looking for you as well!

Thanks Larry. Lots of dealers there yesterday and more pulling in as I left about 4:30. Two friends of mine arrived Sunday to set up and found 9 vendors already there. Christopher is at the very beginning of the main road through the show. Or was, more may squeeze in. I hope to go back on Saturday. Maybe even this afternoon.

Great show. Didn't realize there was so many vendors. Now I know why Christopher has been so busy getting ready for the show. He had one heck of a display. Everyone had lots of material and at great prices. Here's a pic of Noah, Lori and Christopher Anthony. Little 2 1/2 year old Joshua was running around some place. Christopher mentioned it got down close to freezing last night. Day temp was perfect, low 70's with light breeze. LarryS

It was a beautiful day today. It was great meeting Paul and Bill. Visiting with Christopher is always great too. So many dealers I know from either Quartzsite or from CA shows it was like a reunion also.

This was a great show! Weather was beautiful and, despite a late start, my family and I got to meet John, Bill and Christopher! John - thanks for hauling the diamond wheels up with you! Can't wait to fit them to the machine. Christopher - thanks for the great slabs and stuff for the boys! Nathaniel's got his quartz crystal on his headboard. Bill - Thanks for the hike and ad-hoc rockhounding walk! It was great to meet you all! Left to right: John, Bill, and Christopher: My purchases from Christopher's table. I picked up some slabs of obsidian but photos will have to wait until daylight; just can't get a good shot of it with indoor lighting. Great show! Thanks for making it extra special! And, Larry, thanks for hauling the buckets up there! Paul
