OK, Here we go again! Rules: _____________ In order to encourage competition and diversity, entries submitted to this contest must be unique to the RTH version of the Killer Cab Contest. I will monitor the other forum(s) for duplicate entries, and any duplicates will be disqualified.Entries are cabs only. Completed during this two week contest period. Not cabs pulled from the drawer. We include a pic of the original slab, then a pic of the preform, and finally, the finished cab. Please try to remember at least a pic or two of the original slab and or preform. Feel free to share with us what ever you like about the mineral, and or what ever else you would like to share. You can enter any shape cab and your choice of mineral. Things like intarsias, carvings, jewelry, and composite type cabs can not be entered in an effort to keep the contest somewhat fair by just entering free form style cabs. Cabs posted here are only for the contest. __________________ Now get cabbing!

OK, so it looks like, I'm going to lead the way again. LOL On offer this time is this Jasper (don't recall the name) Its huge, even for me and comes in at 78 x 40 mm Here is the rough And here is the cab Its nice material and takes a good shine, but I would not enter in a "Live" competition as the color is picked up better by a camera than ones eyes. Thanks for looking, and bring it on..... need more entries than last time to make this the fun it should be,........

Great entry, Kurt! The color and the liquid shape complete each other very well. It looks like molten toffee, if oriented propperly. I'd say the material could be Bruneau jasper.

Adrian Bulls-eye: That's the name it came under. Thanks. The second is exactly the reason why I had it over a year before attempting to cut. I never worked orbs like that before, so I had no idea as to how it would work out. The weak color was a letdown though. That's exactly the reason why I usually stay away from things like OB. They look great in the pictures, yet look at that thing in your hand and you would not buy it.

Yeah, but it's a great photo and the shaping and shine are incredible! I saw this one in your earlier post and was floored then too! Good luck!

Stu has been hounding me to jump in so here I am jumping in with both hands. As some of you know I only work with local stone because that is what the tourists want. I told Stu that I did not have any world class stone but finally decided that maybe I do. This is brecciated jasper with inclusions of probably magnatite. I was not too good at getting a photo of the magnatite but I will point it out where I can. It looks awesome in person when you get the reflection. The stone from both sides. First cut Second cut The cab. I left a tall side so I can do a groove wrap The shine Good oll sun shine Trying to get the magnatite reflection. There is some just to the right of the reflection of the sun in the second photo. Flash photos A vote for me will bring sunshine to all your days. Besides, Helen called Roy's stone holy crap and KK said that in person his stone looks really really worse. I am practicing to be a politician. Jim

Great stuff thus far.
Wouldn't go as far as Holy Crap, but Roys cab does look incredibly nice besides having been done up by very skilled hands.
And the brecciated jasper? Yikes that agate is clear. When you can see all the way to the back of a cab then its always super material. Like the shape and color.

I haven't checked this thread in a few days... and did not see Kurt's entry, thought Roy's was the first one. Of course, I think Kurt's entry was wonderful! The shape was very fluid and follows the stone really well. Love it!
Roy's... I've never seen that stone before and had no idea there was such a thing, so I was just amazed! It really DOES look like a Cheetah skin!
Now Jim, your stone is really awsome too... like little teeny honeycombs under the yellow, I didn't know that stone had that effect either, and I like what you did with it!
I have yet to see an ugly entry in this contest, and with everyone's entry always being so amazing, I guess I tend to comment more when I see a stone I've never seen before (been a lot of surprises). I tend not to comment on the contests anyway, so there's less stuff for people to wade through to see the entries. But gosh guys... there has NEVER been an unimpressive entry!!
And no! I did not say Roy's was crap! Jim, you totally cracked me up with that one ("I am practicing to be a politician"!! Bwaahhaha!), but I don't think you can ever apply the word 'crap' to any entry in these contests:).

Helen - I am glad that I made at least one person laugh but this was probably not the place to start being a politician. I just scrambled your praise for Roy and I took KK's coment and stretched it way out. I had started my cab before Roy and KK posted theirs so there was no turning back because my photos were already dated.
Sooooo, now I am in competition with an awesome cheetah skin and a beautiful top (the one that you wind up the string then toss it) that looks like it is in MOTION!!!! I loved those tops when I was a kid.
I figured the only way that I could win was to become a politician and tell a bunch of lies. I want to apologize to everyone here and swear that I will absolutely never be underhanded again until it looks like I am loosing again. lol
Now, I have to go and work on that cab some more because I have some catching up to do. lol Jim
