That last log is something like 18" wide. I haven't cut cabs in at least 15 years. My poor Diamond Genie thinks it's been orphaned (and it's probably right). I'm certain the color would make some nice cabs, but you'd never be able to make a cab big enough to see very many of the shades together in one piece. That said, I do have scraps and I'm happy to have a lot of new cabbing friends... My biggest problem is trying to decide what I'm going to sell and what I'm going to keep among the finished pieces. I haven't sold any of it yet but will shortly now that I finally managed a few photos.

Steve you and nature have outdone yourselves with these pieces. I am almost tempted to get on a plane and pay you a visite so that I may see them in person. I am not kidding. LOL I am at a point in my life where I am ready to make a major paradyn shift in my life. However that will be researved for a seperate thread or perhaps a personal discussion in a PM. These pieces are definately museum quality and deserving of a prominant display in a major publication, Unfortunately, after having seen these oustanding piece any other pieces of pet wood I may see in the future will be viewed with a jaded eye.

You know that's actually a serious problem when you're marketing a lot of pieces Stu. No matter how good the material is, if your audience sees it all at once (like this) then they naturally tend to gravitate to the best pieces and the rest are viewed as having a much lower value. Any one of those bookends above would probably be the prettiest thing anyone has seen in ages all by itself, but as a set, your mind remembers one or two. It's just the way we work with shiny objects!
I have an extensive collection but for the most part I've stopped letting buyers view it or it ends up reducing the excitement they've just enjoyed in selecting new pieces for their own collections. In the end, that's pretty much all a shiny rock is good for and everyone deserves the chance to feel like they won the lottery, experiencing the joy of taking home something they can always look at as uniquely beautiful!

There was so much sputtering going on over here! WOW! You'd think Klimt was off in the afterlife designing stone. Very well worth the wait and the lead-up. The rounds remind me so much of an illustration I started roughing out years ago it seriously blows my mind. That it's in my favorite colors makes me wonder if that old sketch wasn't some divine inspiration. If I had a hope in heck of working with something like that I'd almost consider sculpting up the figure piece that went with it and translating it to 3d!

Fantastic pieces! The drama and teasing made it all that much better. Thanks for sharing.

Well worth the wait. Great pieces. The patterns on those last ones are amazing.
