So today... I go to the rock shop to cut some cabs. Outside, there's the President of the club at her pickup truck, with some people rooting through boxes in her truck bed. Well, I like rooting as much as the next person... so I go over there to see what they were rooting through... and she's got 1/2 a truckload of used equipment for sale to club members!! As usual, I was late, so I missed whatever else there was... but... she had had a Graves Cabmate left, and knowing darn well I know absolutely nothing about equipment, I bought it. This is what I got: with a whole bunch of metal wheels, some new, some used. There were 2 crystallite embedded diamond wheels (used), and 4 Diamond Star NOVA wheels, brand new never used in box): The Cabmate came with a blue thing which is some kind of cabbing helper: Here's one of the NOVA wheels, no one ever used them (600 grit): Here's the worn crystallites, with 1 not crystallite: And I don't know what this is: And some metal pieces, I think it's for a saw, but I did not get a sawblade: And this blue attachment: And these parts for the blue attachment - that came with a gorgeous blue lace agate cab and a jasper cab:): And a peek at some of the outdoor portion of my glass studio, turning into a huge mess of rocks and rock stuff... LOL!

The blue thing looks to be an automatic cabbing machine. The plastic pieces are templates. Scott

Krystee, you have one of these too right? How do you drain the hole? It's right up front, and I didn't get a tube... so it's just POURING water out all over the table. If I plug it up, the water will overflow and POUR all over the table! LOL! I found 1/4" tubing at Ebay, but I won't get it for days...
Maybe I'll plug it up anyway, and just tip it over the edge of the table to drain when it's full... AHHHH!! I want to use it!!!
Scott, thanks:). I don't think I have any use for that part at all, but I might play with it later:).

Yep, got yourself a cab preformer. It'll cut your cabs to calibrated sizes. If you contact graves, you should be able to get the instruction book for it, and any parts that may be missing.
Measure your drain hole, then go to the hardware store to get a barbed tubing fitting. The type used as drains for swamp coolers, with a threaded nut to fit the threaded end. Get enough plastic tubing to run from the barbed fitting to a bucket under your bench. Drain problem solved.
Wow !! All that and no political arguments. LOL

Helen, I use standard aquarium tubing for a air pump from the pet store and drain it to a bucket on the floor. It is the PERFECT size and for a few bucks will give you about 12 feet. It's soft clear silicone, pinch it and push it through the inside of the hole, it expands immediately air/drip/leak tight! I've never had a drop of water on my work table. Here is a link of what I'm talking about: www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752199

Yep, 1/8 inch tubing is what you want for the drain. I have a cabmate too, and it's the main cabber that I use. The motor should be a 2 speed motor depending on which way you turn the switch.

As for the cabmate... hrm... barbed tube fitting? Oh oh... I just ordered a whole bunch of 1/4" rubber tubing... was that the wrong stuff??? What's a barbed tube fitting?

Oh no... gaaaH!!! I got the wrong stuff!!! Figures...
Now... the outside diameter of the hole is 1/4" ... but I need 1/8" tubing??? I have 1/8" rubber tubing, and it will not stretch over the hole. Is that because I'm missing a barbed tube fitting??
Maybe I'll just go get the fish tubing...

Maybe it is 1/4, yours looks newer than mine and maybe they fixed the problem with the 1/8 inch barb occasionally plugging up.

Great units. The blade mounts on the left side. 6" blade with 1/2" arbor I think. They come with one wheel and some flat laps so all the other wheels were added by the previous owner. A lot of people do that. The Eastwind wheel is similar to the Novas only 14,000 grit. You are going to have a lot of fun with it. The unit and pre former are both Graves Co. products.
