Hello everyone. I recently posted some photos of this rock/coral somewhere else(new/old 8" saw in "slabs and saws",and then came to the conclusion that it should go here,so;- I was offered some of this with the saw I bought, and although there is little information on the internet,or pictures, the owner assured me it would take a great shine, and make some great cabs etc;- now it's here,I totally agree. Has anyone seen or had any of this to play with? Thanks for looking, John. ps for Don (jakesrocks),if you are interested Don,let me know if you would like some of this, the pleasure will be mine.

Hi, should've added this is also called "starred agate",and a grave was found in Kent(over 100,000 years old),the womans remains had a piece of this still clutched in her hand! So it has been around and in use over here for some time. Thanks John.

Don lol !,Already have this link downloaded, thanks for posting it,I couldn't figure it out,now it's there for everyone-thanks ;D, I am really glad that you like this coral, what would you personally do with it? I know it's hard to come by,with only one source and no new material on the horizon,-personally never even heard of it, before it and some other stuff was offered to me,love it now I can see and feel it-the colours are a very deep to subtle blue, with touches of almost violet/purple lurking in the background-shrouded by a chalky exterior,lol-look out the salesman in me is springing into life ;D,-or should I say the tradesman,;-I am always open to trades/swaps and welcome any suggestions/exchanges;-hoping that doesn't interfere with site protocol/policies?(if it does-my humble apologies!),-my only purpose is to highlight the fact that I not only have more of this than I can ever use,but also that I would love to see what some of the very skilled people on here could do with it? Is this ok? Thanks John.

John, in your 3rd pic down, the piece at the top of the pic with the natural as found rind would be saved as a specimen.
Personally, a piece would go in my growing fossil collection. I can also see some beautiful cabs coming out of that material.
I don't think you'll have any problems finding folks on here willing to swap rocks with you for a piece of that beautiful material. As for selling, Mark the customs papers as a gift. It will save you and the recipient a bunch of money in import taxes.

Don, Many thanks for that advice,-import/export stuff-really annoys me that excessive postage and other financial restrictions are placed upon simple trade between friends,holy*%4321,-most of this would simply remain in the ground,-if it wasn't for the people here or here-abouts, later John.

Time to bring this thread alive again. It seems that John, stillalive had problems with a move he had planned. In short, the deal fell through. So now he's in the process of moving everything back into his house, and waiting to be hooked back up to the internet. Anyway, a while back I sent him some much needed cup washers for his saws. Today the mailman arrived at my door with a puzzled look on his face and asked, " You swapping rocks with someone in England now "? It was a box of goodies from John. I'll post a pic, as soon as I upload it to my putter. The 3 pieces at top left are Tisbury coral. The rest are agates from various parts o Scotland.

I'm back! Don thanks for keeping the thread alive, and my apologies for taking so long to get that out to you. Everything I own has recently been packed, unpacked, repacked and is now being unpacked again,-yes we got our move;but somewhere in the middle of that I had to try to find your box! I am still searching for several needed things, and probably still will be come Christmas, but now have the space for a workshop for my saws etc;-I'm glad I trusted my instincts and bought the saws when I did! Had to cancel this years trip to Scotland for more agate, not enough money left in the bank, but I don't care,-this move was necessary, and long awaited! Thanks again Don,-when I find the lovely pieces you sent me with my flange /washers,I'll post some pictures, all the best John.

Don, what are you trying to do, ruin our reputation by being nice to someone that does not have 150 posts and a year on board? Surprising to find that someone new can actually be legit. (tongue in cheek)
Good to hear that all worked out for you John and a very nice gesture from both of you. Awesome stone and people. Jim

LOL, Jim, after 20 years dealing with people in the military, I learned to be a pretty good judge of character. John needed help with small parts that he couldn't find in England, so I helped him.

Jim, no money crossed hands. I helped John, and in appreciation he sent me some British material that I most likely wouldn't ever have had the chance to own or work with. Sometimes it pays to just trust your gut feelings.
