This is already a sticky under Lapidary Tips. Richard was working on updating this. I'll ask him next time I see him. Steve

Thanks Chuck, seems very familiar to me, probably a Sinkakas book excerpt or something, but never hurts to renew some tips!!

Thank you for this information. I have been working with a trim saw (6") and a slab saw (10") for several months and should have read this sooner. Very good. Thank you again. Don

Has anybody ever successfully renewed a blade by cutting up a brick or a grinding wheel?
This does nothing for my blades, and if you think about it, it doesn't make much sense either.
Whether I pay $150 or $50 for a blade for my 12" Lortone, it cuts ok for a while then gets so slow that I hate having to use it. What a pain!

I did not see the part of how fast to feed the vise / rock into the blade.... All slab saw feed for longest lasting should not exceed 4 minute to the inch. Though i cut at 8 minute to the inch. And reveres as needed. And surface to the minute is 3800 - 4800 ---- For old MK- blades. For the Diamond pacific 4800 - 5200 sfpm.
Though i herd of people running 3400 RPM motors to cut time on cutting.

Tommy. Can you fix the photos? Thanks. No can do Pat, they are missing at the host. Maybe Drummond Island Rocks still remembers this and has them on file somewhere?
