That is the main reason people add a vibe tumbler. Once the rocks are finally shaped/rounded in a rotary the vibe can run through all the other steps in a week. If you self collect your rocks be picky about what you collect. Run only the best or grind out the flaws before. Good luck with the tears. They are not the easiest material for the beginner. Check them more often too.

Leroy, if we ever get to head out, you'll find that being picky with a nine year old and five year old is ... non-existent. My elder son is learning to be choosy. My younger, not so much ... we end up with a lot of landscaping materials (a.k.a. leaverite). To John's point, I end up putting the "select" materials in a separate bucket or pile from my boys haul. Let me know how the apache tears turn out. I've got a barrel's worth waiting. As in waiting for me to have enough guts to try LOL! I don't want to ruin them (and I'm waiting for the barrels to finish what running now). Paul
