Hi this cab was made from a really nice piece of Agua Nueva that I got about a year ago from High Plains Drifter. I new it was a very special piece so I waited until now before I worked on it. I hope you enjoy it Stu

Boy if that isn't a "fall into it" stone, I don't know what is. Beautiful job on it, Stu! That really is a gorgeous piece!

Cathy I knew that tis was a fine piece wwhen I got it in an aution from High Plains Drifter.. These were pieces from his private stash that he was selling because he was moving. He mentioned to me that this piece had what I think was called paralex. It is some sort of optical illusion that gives you a 3D effect. When you hold it in your hand you really feel as if you can put your hand right into it. The pictures don't come close to what it looks like in person. Stu

Can't imagine, Stu! It does come through in the picture but if this isn't even close, as I said, can't imagine! Great find and a beautiful job!

Wow that is one wild looking agate! I'd never have even guessed it was an Agua Nueva. I'd have guessed it was a Botswana. Real a cool shape you've cut there too...Mel

Thanks everyone for all of your kind words. I really wanted to enter this one in the contest but because it was so nice and so unusual in its coloration I feared that some people would think that the pictures were juiced up. I was planning on keeping it as a display piece, that's why it is so large. By rights the entire slab should have been flat lapped so you could see the rind around the edge but I didn't have a flat lap machine. So I sacrificed some rind and made a cab instead. No sooner did I show it to some people I know in the jewelry field I was given an offer that I couldn't refuse. This cab is now destined to become the focal stone in a very large amulet that has been commissioned as a custom piece. I have mixed feelings about the sale as I was not looking to sell it and I think I might have let a one of a kind piece slip through my fingers. Stu
