Hello, friends.
I haven't been much around here, lately. For good reasons, though. One of the reasons is that I was in a trip in Lesvos island. A one week trip, this time not with my "girls" but with my rock friends.
So, if you have a good connection take a cup of coffee or a glass of ouzo & ice and keep scrolling down.
The idea of this trip came to me almost one year ago, and I asked my friends what do they think about a trip in which we would share the expenses and multiply the fun.
They surely agreed and the only problem was to harmonize our schedules and to find some days in which all of us would be free. Mid July was the best time, so some ten days ago the "team" gathered.
The gathering place was my home, as I live closer to Greece than my friends.
Here we are, in my kitchen, cheering for a good trip:
Here are the luggages, and what you see is only a part of them:
The next morning, we hit the road pretty early in order to catch the ferry in Kavala. It was about 4 o clock in the morning when we left.
And the road was OK, we arrived in time in Kavala:
Our ship was already in the harbor:
We parked the car into the belly of the vessel:
Then we went in our four beds cabin:
And here we go, wave-point Mytilini - Lesvos
The next morning, very early, we arrived in the island:
In the harbor parking, we set our route and the objectives...
... and we went to Skala Eressos, the destination of our journey. On the route, we visited some interesting places:
The church in Agiassos
A small geological museum in Vrisa, where they uncovered some fossil bones of a giant tortoise - reconstruction in this picture
A monastery:
Picturesque houses:
Even the poor vegetation had its charm:
Our main visit was, of course, the petrified forest park where we could admire the beautiful tree trunks - some of them still standing.
Here we are the four of us, with my favorite tree trunk from the park (my "armchair")
And some other photos from the park:
We also visited the petrified wood museum in Sigri, where pictures are forbidden inside. There was an exhibition though, where pics were allowed and I found the idea very interesting:
We also visited the town of Petra, with beautiful houses and a church built on a rock monolith raising some 100 ft above the surroundings.
The special part of our trip was camping (tenting) on a desert beach, which is also very interesting regarding the pebbles found there. Lots of pet wood pieces can be found, either on the beach, or by snorkeling.
Once the evening approached, we set the tent:
Once the dusk came, we ate and had a beer, then admired the more and more starry sky. With no source of light around, it was amazing how many stars we could see:
It was a very cool camping, and even if it wasn't the most comfortable night spent there it definitely will be something to remember.
Here's a pic with the car and the tent, in the next morning. You can see here better the whole beach, where we were alone all the time we spent there.
As I told you at the beginning of this post, this time I was accompanied by my friends instead of my girls. I told Ina to join us, but she elegantly told that she won't spoil the "boy's trip". As you can see in this picture, I had her in my mind all the time.
Thank you very much Ina for being such a wonderful wife. Thank you also all of you for looking.
Adrian
