I have been so busy prospecting and mining this year that i haven't had much time to read here let alone post anything. I recently got a message wondering how i was doing so i guess since i am home for a couple days i will post up some pics and stories of my summer so far. Last season i posted quite a few landscape type pictures of the areas i had been prospecting in but this summer i haven't travelled nearly as much but instead have been doing some more serious mining in one location. I have found some decent gold but so far the mother load has eluded me. I have also found some nice rocks (agate, crystals, pet wood, etc.) but most of it is at my camper on my claims so i don't really have any pics of them. Here is some pictures of my setup this year. And some of the results.

Wow... it's one thing to read that people mine for gold, it's another to see someone show it! How much gold is that and how long did it take you???
You look REALLY familiar for some reason...

WOW! Nice set-up, just a bit of gold, great critters, gorgeous landscape shots, and your beautiful companion. Working in the fresh air, and seeing the northern lights - I am so jealous!
Thanks for finding the time to post! Jean

Looks great and peaceful. Nice that you find time to enjoy your neighbors.
Hope you don't mind me asking: how many cubic-meters/tonnage do you have to go through to get that much gold?
Thanks for taking the time to share your adventure with us.

Great set up but no matter how good it is, it is still back breaking work. Last summer I carried my rig on my back (sluice box) and pretty much destroyed what back I had left. My reward was much less than yours but it is great to be able to say that I found gold AND spent some awesome time in the mountains. Sometimes a good hard life is way better than an easy boring life. I am way happy for you. The rings that I have made out of the rock you sent to me are tough as nails and almost impossible to break without whacking them on another rock. Thanks again for that trade. I hope that the rest of your summer is as good or better than the first half. TAKE CARE OF YOUR BACK BECAUSE YOU ONLY HAVE ONE. Jim

The gold you found pales compared to the amazing photos you took. Superb.

I have been out prospecting again for the last twoo weeks since i posted this and i am glad so many of you liked the pics. I am just home for a day this time and am heading back out again tonight. It is definitely long, hard, back breaking work but it sure beats sitting in a cubicle or being stuck in traffic in the city. I love the fresh air, simple food, and continous excercise it brings me as well as the golden reward at the end of the day. So far i have been digging since the middle of May and have earned far less than i would have at my old construction job but the benefits far outweigh the loss of wages. I made a huge change in my life a couple years ago so i could do this full time and have reduced my cost of living about threefold which has overall given me a much simpler and higher quality of life. I didn't take too many pics this last trip but here are a couple recent ones that i liked. My home valley from the last trip. A shack on a hydro resevoir. Marley playing with a stick. And a couple shots of the Perseid metero shower from last night.
