I'm personally signed up with about a dozen different forums. Some I visit every day, and some only occasionally. I can see nothing wrong with a person using more than one forum. Several times when folks have asked for info about collecting sites on RTH, I've sent them to another forum which has an excellent state by state directory of collecting sites, Which I might add, gets new locations added on a regular basis.

Don, I surely agree with you, didn't mean to infer otherwise. More info from varied sources makes for more knowledge. I lurk on several myself, though this is my rock home, and the only forum I belong to.

From the way I see it the thread was started by one of our own members asking fr help in contacting the admin of the other forum. I see no outward effort to recruit anyone from here to there. I am on both and I have gained valuable info from both forums. Many of the members here are also members over there though the culture of the two forums are quite different. Its all about the rocks and the more info that is available the better. Stu

I'd be willing to bet that more than just a few of our members are signed up on mindat. www.mindat.org/, for the host of info over there. There are several other sites that I could link to that are strictly info sharing sites. Like take for instance the University of Kansas Agate Database. snr.unl.edu/data/geologysoils/agates/agatedatabase.asp . Great help in identifying agates from around the world, and always growing. If some would have us stop sharing these valuable sources of info with our RTH friends, then what good are we doing for our hobby and shared interests ?

I guess I did a poor job of expressing my thought. I am not knocking or questioning the number of forums one belongs to. I was saying what I took Rich's comment to mean.

Of course I am sensitive to that consideration... I kind of took Rich's comment the same way. I would just like to make clear that I am not here to 'recruit' or drive people to other forums. Someone had an issue, they started the thread, I replied to help them out and that is it.
I'm sure everyone understands that, but just so we are clear...

Nuevo – Sorry for the rant. Had nothing to do with you. Daniel – Apologies to you too.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking. ;D

LOL So how are you doing on the quitting smoking? I quit 20 years ago, the hardest thing I ever quit.

Bought a carton the following night, Tony. Had to pick up a prescription today, so I bought a box of patches while I was there. Probably start again tomorrow.

Was the hardest thing I ever quit also. I quit smoking when they went from $.35 per pack to $.50 per pack in the vending machines. I was'nt going to pay that much for a smoke so I quit. Guess I'm "telling" my age...how much per pack are they now? Do they even sell them in a vending machine any more?

I worked in a drug store after school when I started. Camels/Luckies were 25¢, filters were 27¢. Carton of Marlboro now - $90.00

Parfive, I smoked a pack a day for 25 years until 2 1/2 years ago. Please read a book called "the easy way to stop smoking" by Allen Carr. It's a short, easy read and usually works on awake people like yourself. the smoking topic is important enough for me to speak up. Good Luck
