I would try it if I needed something wrapped, but I would send a crappy one first, then the good one second.

It is a cool idea...I think it would be easier if you had a Small $XX.xx up to 20mm Medium $XX.xx up to 30mm Large $XX.xx up to 40mm That way you don't have to haggle at all for the price... Maybe have them send a picture to show what they want wrapped..... I also wouldn't worry about the craft wire part....Since you specified gold or silver...
Thats what I was thinking...Good luck with it ...John

Randy, I like the idea!
I would add the word custom to the the title, though. Also, you could add that they could check out your other work for more ideas as to a wrap you can do for them. 30.00 seems reasonable. Maybe even 35 for silver 40 for gf. Maybe you should explain the girdle, too. Some people might not know what that is. And give the inch size (40mm/1.5 inch). Do you know anyone you can offer as a reference for your work and/or honesty?
Make sure they send their cab with delivery confirmation. You don't want the PO losing the cab and then find yourself in an awkward situation.

sounds like you have a lot of good input allready but I would add to maybe point them here to some of your work that you have done. I don't think there would be any question as to the quality of your work. Lloyd

I thought about that, but I already have 43 of my wire wrapped pendants for sale on my Etsy account. I would add more if they ever sold!! lol

I would mention a bit of your wrapping history... why should they buy a wrap from you instead of someone else on Etsy? May be helpful to add, I have been wrapping for X years now and can wrap these types of stones.
I think if anyone would pay for 'custom wrapping', what they would want wrapped would be the rock they found on their honeymoon, their dad's favorite 'lucky rock', the rock/shell their 8 year old refused to let go of from vacation, a rock they found at the base of the Grand Canyon on their vacation... that kind of thing.
Anyone making cabs most likely knows one or more wrapper, not least because they are probably in touch with their local rock club. That's my thoughts anyway:).

it sounds like a fair deal - but complicated. etsy is not really set up to vend services.
there could be problems if someone sends cabs and then does not pay (or stay in contact).
does etsy have any policy on selling services?

good deal. you need to make two iistings, one for silver and one for gold-filled. that is per the policy.
You might put up multiples of each listing, unless their template lets the user select quantity.
it looks like they buy the listing 1st, then send the cab. you might advise them to send a picture or description (before purchasing) if there is any question.

good deal. you need to make two iistings, one for silver and one for gold-filled. that is per the policy. I was thinking the same thing. I'm gonna do that one now. Not sure about selecting quantity, that's a great idea. There's gotta be an option for that, I'm gonna check. Thanks bud!

I think it would be a great idea. I would be inclined to buy. Could not find the page. Tom

Yeah, I deleted it. Etsy sent me a reply, they said that the ad wasn't within the guidelines of the rules. I'm not sure why, it would have been a win-win for both of us. No big deal though, there's a million ways to make money! ;D

start an account on bonanza I got ads up for custom wraps, did three of them with sample pictures. One for gold filled, on for sterling/argentium and one for copper/brass/stainless/nickle silver its a good idea as your wrap style is beautiful

you should ask how to make an acceptable "custom" ad. they clearly allow them ... or search for others and study them
