Here are three more of my amethyst cabs from the Blomidon area of Nova Scotia... My friend took this picture in a dark box, he says it makes the colours 'pop'. I found out the hard way that the jasper inclusions were somewhat heat sensitive when I took this one to the leather wheel w/ tin oxide. This one was actually from the end cut, there is no amethyst per se, but I just thought that the clear red agate window with the bubbling orbs underneath were too cool not too cab, I just need to whack the opticon to it... I hope you enjoy. Rock Guy

Very nice! The dark box did make it pop! I think I like the non Amethyst one the best . Keith

I should clarify, the last one is an end peice of a chunk of amethyst I was cutting, I was lucky the bottom was pretty flay so I was able to just cut off a few mm's to start slabbing properly. The worst thing about this stuff is that it crumbles apart pretty easily, has to do with the way the chrystals grow inside the void I think, it's hard to get a peice big enough to make a decent cab.

They are all great pieces, but the way the first one is photographed really brings out not only the color but the lines within the stone as well. Very cool!

The black box really does make the stone pop. Wow! Also really like the end cut.

Your friend was absolutely right, those colors fly out of the monitor. The end cut is fabulous too and doesn't need to be embarrassed that it doesn't have amethyst in it.
