I acquired some of this several weeks ago in the load I brought home. After rolling a lortone 45c in coarse,I had a half a Lot-o barrel full.I had tumbled some spotted blue sodalite before I got my vibes and didnt have a good finish,so I added those for a full load. The load The spotted blue from the Rock Shed. Thanks for looking snuffy

Do you live amidst mountains of tumble-polished rocks? I can't believe how much you turn out!

I didn't care much for the quality of the rough I purchased from the Rock Shed. What other options are there for purchasing rough on line?

Yep, you sure do have the most tumbles on here and seem to get a great shine on every kind of rock and this one is no exception.

jukerocks - rough what?
I've been happy and unhappy with stuff I've bought from the rockshed and other places online.
I think most of that has to do with my lack of experience though. Snuffy tumbles something like sodalite and it looks amazing. I tumble it and I am ready to quit.
I do generally much better with jaspers and agates that are nice and hard. I do OK with quartz and aventurine as long as I don't put them with a batch of agates.
I usually just throw everything together and see what survives, which the agates and jaspers always do.
I do also like thegemshop.com - they have all sorts of cool rough. I bought a bunch of agate from them when I just started and I have been really happy.

Thanks for the comments.I have to say the rough was excellent to begin with.I ran it in 60/90 for 5 days in the rotary. I then went to 1000ao for 3 days in one loto, and 2 days ao polish in another.I use the ao1000 3 days on all my tumbles in a loto. The old saying junk in,junk out, holds true.I've been fortunate to have gotten good tumbling material from the old rocker.

Hey Snuffy, Thanks again for your tips on polishing sodalite. I'm proud to say I have my very 1st batch of polished stones :-) This is after a 12hr burnish. When I get home I think I'm going to pull the batch and call it. Sent from my SPH-D710 using proboards Attachments:

Snuffy I just cut into some sodalite with very little white in it. But what is there is in the middle of the slabette which I am hoping is the same hardness as the blue field of it. Did you find any undercutting of the white material? I am hoping to use the whole slab for a cab. I cut it a little thicker to get a good dome on a large area. I have some with the black in it too and found it to be a pain in the vibe while the solid blue I tried polished well.
