Some of you may know this already but my youngest son Joshua had open heart surgery when he was 7 month old to correct a coarctation of the aorta. He is now 3 years old and doing fine. You would never know but for the scars. Anyways I just wanted to share this photo of him taken other day. Out here in Bakersfield it is still hot so he decided to fill a bucket of water and make his own personal swimming pool!!

I am so happy that he is OK. He looks great. Like you said, you would never know. Children are so much stronger than adults and have so much to teach us. That smile says it all. I bet that smile means more to you than words can say. We have a 10 month old who had cataracts surgery last week. She bounced back in a matter of days. Children are amazing.
Dad_oh, I am sorry. Nothing I can say. Hearing that makes me scared, thankful for every day, scared. I stay up watching out child breathe sometimes. I am so sorry. Steve

You are right when you speak of the strenght of children. They said he would be in UCLA for a week recovering....they released him in 48 hours....they said he would be on meds for months......they never gave him anymore after the initial dose to stabilize his blood pressure...normalized in 24 hours. Joshua is pretty strong and I believe he will have a long life trouble free since we decided to do it while he was so young.

1. That's super cute. Awesome to hear stories like yours.
2. I never paid attention to your location. My in-laws live in Hanford, and am going to be comingdown for a few weeks in Feb/Mar. Maybe we can get together!

Very nice picture of your precious one Christopher. Children are a gift, the greatest one we ever get, except maybe grandchildren.
Mario, I know a little of how you feel. My son is a twin, he was born alive after his brother was born dead. The mixture of emotions is something I can't describe, and now 19 years later he will be headed off to Army boot camp in 6 weeks, emptying the nest.

I have several adult patients who had coarct repair as children. They have done very well as I suspect joshua will. Absolutely adorable kid Chris. Warms my heart. Bill
