OK, this is my last hint. If no one gets it after this total give away hint then I will pull it and keep the thing. No not really, I'll think of another way to give it away. Remember three (3) word name and "THE" is the second word.
Last hint: Tom McCourt (and for the bonus round - why is a canyon that is 40 miles long called 9 mile canyon??)
Best of LUCK

And the bonus answer is.......................... John Wesley Powell led a government expedition through Utah in 1869. He had a topographer with him by the name of F. M. Bishop. Bishop did a nine-mile triangulation drawing, which he named Nine Mile Creek. The canyon was subsequently called Nine Mile Canyon even thought the canyon is actually 40-miles long
(sorry, I cheated and googled that one! LOL)

I have learned several things from these games: 1. Robert is a very talented lapidary, with a great eye for stones. 2. Robert is a very generous person (just ask Kevin!) 3. I think he is into music 4. A very true statement! It is apparent that many of us here on RTH do NOT, so much, think like him. What is obvious to him ("it has a very obvious three (3) word name") is not to us. It kind of gets you thinking outside the box.
Robert, thank you for your contests/mind-teasers, and I'm sure many of us are looking forward to your return in two weeks! Jean
BTW, those three cabs you posted are sweeeeeeett! Will put them on my desktop, and ponder names for them while you are away.

This is for Rockpickerforever and a couple of other that have asked me to explain how my hints are actually hints, and "how my brain works."
Hear is a little bit about me. I love to hear the names that other people come up with for my cabs or any cabs for that matter. I think it helps get my creative juices flowing. Before I go into my explanation, let me say I love picture jasper. If you take away my favorite stone - opal, 4 out of my top 5 stone are picture jaspers. So when I start with saying it is a very obvious 3 word name - to me it is. In the cab I see mountains, sky and a massive lighting bolt - 'splitting the sky.'
Next hint was AC, followed by AC/DC (later with two direct references to 'Hells Bells'). I also gave you the middle word 'THE' Now because this was a 3 word name, I was trying to help you find the 1st word - that is why I chose hells bells by ac/dc. And I quote, "See my white light flashing as I split the night..." Now in all honesty, I knew that was a long shot at best but it was fun, at least to me.
The next hint was Revelation chapter 6. Now depending on which translation of the Bible you are reading you get something along the lines of "The sky was split open" to "and He split the eastern sky." I didn't look through every Bible I have but of all the ones I did look at, every one of them had the 2 key words - sky and split.
The last hint was me throwing in the towel. Anyone with internet access would be able to look up Tom McCourt, along with the "bonus" question about 9 mile canyon, you had to be able to find the right Tom. Tom McCourt wrote the book "The Split Sky" and with me reminding everyone that the "THE" must be the middle word, that gave the answer away.
I really do enjoy the game and I feel that by offering up a cab, hopefully in some small way, this will encourage someone else out there to fall in love with cabbing the way I have.
Hope all that helps, but I know it doesn't. Best thing to do is follow the clues the best you can and guess away. I often give other hints along the way that are not "official" hints.
