Ok....so....everyone knows I just got remarried, and I hafta tell ya a couple awesome things......kinda funny too....This year when the thaw came in the Spring, I taught him how to spot a Laker while out hunting, what to look for, etc etc.....he finds a 9+ pounder...are you kiddin me??!! lololol Now, I love to tease him,, because I have been hunting lakers for 3 years now, and had yet, at the time, ever found anything over 13 ounces. Chompin at the bit all this time to find my 1st 1 pounder even, and he is hunting only a short time, and spots this 9 pound Laker !! lolol BEFORE the thaw tho, in like January of this year, I started teaching him how to cab. What took me MONTHS to figure out, he had down in less than a month. And he just keeps getting better at it! Every day I see new things he does with cabbing that just blows me away, and makes my day, makes me smile. He is a natural born cabber, no doubt. He also has a big talent for picking out good rocks we can cut and cab..... These are his most recent creations.....spears....these are ALL 3+ inches long, stunning domes, and absolute liquid shines. All done on the 8" Ameritool, no dopping. Hope you love them Like I do....!! This is his very 1st one ever....Mahogany Obsidian Serpentine Onyx Chrysocolla Amethyst Mex. Crazy Lace Mookaite Larvakite Thanks for looking! Marie

I think your beau is keeping secrets from you. Before you met he was actually a lapidary superstar. He got tired of the limelight and wanted to settle down with a nice down to earth rockgirl. ;D

he can probably do that shape in his sleep now:<)) Is that end preped for gluing into a bevel and bale for a neck chain? By the way; where did you get the serpentine? it looks exactly like what I find here

itsandbits: we purchased the serpentine from the rock shop....dont recall is he had it posted where it's from tho.... also...some of these were done so they could be glued for a bail..others were done to be grooved etc etc....the only ones left are the ones listed in the etsy shop....
Thank you so much everyone....I know your comments will be a huge boost in his confidence in cabbing. I keep telling him that he is astounding at this....liquid shine on almost everything he turns out....but...It will help if he knows that more experienced folks say the same as I do!!
Thank you!!

TAnd as Val at MLS said when we had it appraised, " a once i n a lifetime find, never cut or even face polish that thing" I guess I am different. I'd cut that thing! I think people that tell you to not enjoy your find are jealous. That looks like you could get a couple of 3-4" spheres out of it and hundreds of cabs. That raw stone cannot be worth it's value in finished cabs, can it? If a laker taht large is indeed so very rare, then imagine how few finished 4" spheres of laker agate there are. I bet it'd sell for $1000 or even 2x that! Congrats on the marriage and indeed the very cool find!
