(Honest), last year Susan (susand24224) sent me a flat rater full of George Washington's opals from George Washington county (in Oregon I think). She sent a bunch of fist sized chunks, really cool stuff!! I finally tried my hand at slabbing one of them, amazing stuff and takes the best shine ever!! Check it out.....

Randy, you sure have done me proud! And it's honest to goodness opal from George, Washington (Grant County). To those who visit the diatomaceous earth pits, you will fare much better if you dig a little and get the stuff that's been around awhile--then you don't have to worry so much about stability.
It looks great--it's time I cut some more myself.

AWESOME Randy!!! I love that stuff! I still have some from Susan too, it's a DREAM to work up and there is so many variations of color and patterns. I really like the piece you did, rich colors and a bit of transparency!!!

Wow! That is one stellar cab! This was just the kick in the butt I needed to get to work on some of mine from Susan. I started a small piece of the butter-colored stuff, but, working with a rotary tool is slow going so I got discouraged, I also have one 10 lb chunk of it (ebay) left to work on once I finish everything she sent me. (It'll be a while) For those curious about it, If you read through this old thread on the other forum I'm on, it goes into what it is,how it's formed etc. : forums.opalauctions.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3066Plus a bonus, You get to see my cute face! Hahaha!

What a knockout! Really like the pattern and colors in it. Looks like it has some blue in it? Had to look up George Washinton opal since I've never seen it before.
