We had a mountain lion near my mom's place last year but never saw it. It was the "big news" of the area because of the open range and nearby cattle ranch. We heard that it was trapped but not what they did with it. We mostly see coyotes, birds, and rabbits. Haven't seen one up close yet this year but they do come near the house when roaming through the property. I now get a little antsy about taking my new puppy out at night especially when I hear the coyotes howling but I keep a close watch and she doesn't stray too far from me. I also have to watch out for hawks, don't want her to be a quick snack. That's the hazard of having a small dog in a big desert. When I'm out rockhounding or camping in Montana I do carry bear spray too. Haven't used it but nice to know I have it just in case.
