jamespI don't think that is a problem- I just won't use the soft enough grit(or what's used) to make it shinny.

Most metal only tumblers won't handle the weight of a load of damp rocks. The tumblers that appear after Christmas are gifts being resold after deciding it isn't for therm, takes too long, etc. Just like all the exercise equipment that appears not to long after New Years. Whichever tumbler type you choose try it first without grit and maybe use ceramic media.
