Christa and I took our annual New Year's Day pilgrimage down to Desert Gardens today. Pretty chilly out in the western AZ desert but not too bad. Had to break through the ice in all the slab buckets this morning.. heh Here some stuff that followed us home Some cheap slabs Yellow Feather Palm Root and Agate Creek nodule Royal Imperial nodules dino slab palm fulla palm and a nice biggie Some stuff from Mr. Catmandewe Bruneau rough Amethyst Sage can't wait to feed this to my saw ;D Few more slabs but I lost the sun taking these pics this evening so I'll try and post them on the slabs section later this week. Oh yeah gotta back up blade for the slab saw can't beat $60 for an 18" blade. Christa picked up a nice necklace and earrings set, a candle holder and some bamboo wind chimes. It was a most enjoyable first day of the year!

Glad you and Christa had a fun day. Looks like you picked up some nice stuff. Those Royal Imperial nodules are sweet. I have tried several times to get some on Ebay but to no avail. Love the stuff you got from Tony too! Did he have lots of Bruneau there? Thanks for sharing your finds Beef. Steve

Great stuff always seems to follow you home. Sounds like Christa got some good stuff too. I figured you'd get some of that amy sage from Tony, I got a small chunk myself when I was there as he was setting up. I haven't gotten any pictures of it though.

Steve, as of Tuesday morning Tony had a couple full bins of the Bruneau, all beautiful looking stuff too!
John, you got the rest of the month to make it out here! ;D
Pat, I first saw the Yellow Feather last year. I bought a small slab and made a cab. A couple months ago someone added some pretty interesting comments about the material being obtained from a rancher's land in Utah, possibly without permission. I don't know what the deal is, but the same vendor is offering it in Q this year as well..
Ed, I'm digging them RI nodules too, wish I had picked up more. Hey can't wait to see you again bud!
Diane, have you cut your amy sage yet? I'm fixing to go offer mine to the saw
Thanks for the comments folks!

Looks like I missed meeting you. I think I spent all day tuesday digging through the fire agate tubs. I am here all month. Hulagrub, Charlotte and I have spent the last few days hunting rocks out in the desert. Looks like you found some good ones out at D.G.

Thanks to Sheri(rockhobbit) relaying a message to Tony(catmandewe) while she was down at Quartzite, I was able to get some of that purple sage. 3 nice size chunks, the size of Beefjellos and some other smaller ones. It all looks great.

Wow, major drool factor! The Royal Sahara and Condor agates are awesome. Hey, save some for the rest of us!
No one has mentioned the temperatures out there yet, but judging by the layers of clothing and jackets in some of the photos posted so far, I'd say... IT'S COLD!!! (at least in the morning, and when the wind is blowing.) Jean

beefjello, you know how to pick em. Everything looks fantastic. Thanks for posting the pics. I cant get enough of quartzite pics.
Im jealous over that dino bone. That looks like it will be a dandy if you cut it up. Nice and gemmy looking on the outside. Man I wish I was down there to see everything, especially the dino bone for sale.
I weighed the amy sage and one weighed 10 pds. I asked Tony to fill a large flat rate for me and there wasnt any space left in the box. It was like a jigsaw puzzle. 3 other chunks were good size also, around 5 pounds maybe more, cant remember now. I have been more than happy with all my purchases from Tony.
THANKS TONY!
