The time is getting nearer. So who will be going to Needle Peak?

Since the burn ban article didn't mention charcoal, I called Brewster County. Charcoal is OK in a BBQ grill.
I'm planning to go to Needle Peak. Probably won't climb very far though.

Too bad about the burn ban.. oh well. I see the '10 day' has taken the rain out of the forecast. That's what happens when you try to look too far into the future I'll be doing the Needle Peak trip. Christa plans on just relaxing around Alpine that day. If we get in super late Monday night what time will everyone get started Tuesday? Sunrise? In case it's a super big camp ground we'll just wander about calling out your names ;D Drive safe everyone.. just a few more daze!!!

Finally I'm free of work and get ready. Woo Hoo! I want to go to Needle Peak but I won't be driving a 4wd so I would need a ride. I'm with Jeri..won't be climbing very high. (Thanks Tom for the words of wisdom). I don't want to slow anyone down nor wear myself down so I can't go with all of you. So, if there is a nice place to hunt...I'll take the hint. I'm looking forward to putting names and faces together. Oh, if Jeri or Mark pop in, you guys said you'd hit Arlington about 10 p.m. Is that still the time? What time were you planning on leaving Sat. morning?

What time do you consider 'super late'? Don't look for me at sunrise!... The campground has about 30? spaces, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find us. If I have a choice, we'll be towards the back. I'm excited! I'm excited! I'm excited! Later, jeri

I wish you were coming to Tom. Chuck, do stop in Winslow, Arizona. I stopped there some years ago and stood at a corner with a bronze statue of Glen Frey. I was taking a picture of my wife when all of a sudden this mean looking gorilla type biker on a Harley stops, looks at us then gets off his bike and walks towards us. Oh boy! He shakes our hands and asked if we wanted him to take a picture of us together. Great guy. Nice place because of the song.

Glad you made it back safely Dan. It was a great pleasure to see you and spend time with you again. I'm sure there will be many stories to tell and pictures to post by those of us that were there. Here is my first story. It comes at the very, very, end of the of the trip. We (Ed, Jamie, and I), had driven back from Woodward Ranch where we camped out, to the RV camping area where the rest of the clan camped at to say our goodbyes. Well, Dan has this super friendly, super cute dog with a personality to match. His name is Lucky. Everyone fell in love with him. He is half pug and half beagle. He is in Dan's Jeep so Dan lets him out for us to say goodbye to him too. I'm about five yards away and Lucky sees me. He lights up and as I crouch down with my arms open for him to come to me he starts running really fast towards me. There I am and there he comes. Beautiful moment. Picture it in slow motion. There I am and there he goes. Right past me. I'm left hang in'. Jamie was behind me to my right sitting at a table minding her own business. He ran right towards her. That happy, loving look and dash from that little canine was alas, not meant for me. It was for her. Until next time my chubby little friend. I'm happy to have known you.

Hey Dan and Gil glad you guys made it back safe, I hope the same for the rest. We sure had a blast out there! It was great to meet you two as well as Mark, Jeri and Deb. Wonderful to see Ed and Jamie again too. Oh and Lucky Dog too.. Christa had had fun spending the day with him Wednesday ;D
Gil the walking stick sure came in handy, especially around Needle Peak, and the Jerky was the best I ever had! Dan I really appreciate you hauling me out to Needle Peak and showing us around Woodward. I'm hoping to split that big biscuit Christa found today!
Hope we all get to do it again someday!!

Here are few pics. Whoa! Gotta pick that agate up! Somewhere on the ranch. Top L to R: Dan, Gil, Ed, Jeri, Mark, and Jamie. Missing is Bryan, his wife Krista, and Jeri's friend. Resting after a long day of rock collecting. By this time the temperature was in the low forties. At night it got to thirty four degrees there at the WWR. We were freezing. Notice how the warm campfire is keeping Mark's feet warm. What an incredible cab. Condor

Great pics Gil! Wish we could have stayed that extra day. Gonna show Christa that Pegasus cab, I remember you telling her about it.
Man the week went by way too quick!
