This is Zebre agate from India. The guy I got this from in Quartzsite said it is something new. I don't know but, I've not seen it before. This agate is hard hard stuff and took a great shine. preform Finished cab Excellant cab entries this month you guys!!

Always great to see Noreena turning up. Simply adore the colors. But...... Whaaaaaaa That Zebra is stupendously delicious. Its new, alright, to me at least. Love the look of it and your layout plus finish is absolutely excellent. OK, my turn, after looking at the fantastic entries already in the game, I'm not sure which one of two cabs I should enter. So lets choose this crazier one to have at least one way to stand out at all, against this strong competition! I have been told in the meantime that it might be Oregon Sow Belly Agate. Found some on Google that look similar (not as messy) and have colors very close to this one. The slab. The seller advised me against bidding on it because of pores and vugs all over the place, but it looks just to good not to try out. Because of all the problems, I just went along with the shape, till I found maximum use versus minimum problems. Colors look fantastic at hand and with all those swirls and layers its easy to see pictures within the cab. Can you see the Polar-bear (as shown in the center-picture)? Thanks for looking, remain with best regards, Kurt

Ok guys, there is some seriously tough competition going on here but upon the urging of a friend, and I won't mention any names...Gary, I decided to do an entry for this month. The pickings were difficult but I had just received a box of killer slabs from the same friend that I didn't mention above and really needed to fall into someplace peaceful and quiet. I decided to visit Burro Creek and fell into this cab for a few evenings. The slab... The rough The preform The cab And again... And that's an entry! :-)

Better late than never! And now for something completely different... Fractured rhyolite filled with agate! At first I thought maybe it was chalcedony in the cracks, but there are fortifications in it, don't think chalcedony does that. I brought home of few of these rocks from Brenda, wasn't sure what kind of a mess I could make with them. The slab The cab. This was somewhat difficult to cab, since the two components are quite widely different in hardness. The hard agate wanted to stay, and the softer rhyolite wanted to grind away! Did this on my flat lap, would've been even harder on a genie! Not the most colorful rock in the world, but still kind of purdy These photos don't do it justice... Backlit - another crummy shot. You can see the light coming through the cracks The back side There's my last minute entry! Good luck to everyone that entered, lots of great stuff this month! Jean

I think this month has been one of the most active. I usually have a pretty good idea who I will vote for, but I am torn this month, some really unique work.
Sorry for the delay on getting the poll up, I will have it up tomorrow. Good work everyone!
