I have to laugh at myself sometimes, especially lately while learning the language of this hobby. ie. NOOB All week I have been thinking about this thread and in in particular when you mentioned that you haven't seen any 'orbs' yet. For some reason I kept thinking about that sentence. I was charging a barrel this evening with the green bruneau jasper I recieved from you this week and found something very different then the bruneau. It was a little green perfectly round ball prickly ball. I was stocked! I got all excited that I found an orb. Not knowing what an orb was I was so excited to check back on this thread and tell you I found an or and ask (now what do I do with it?) Before I logged in I thought to myself that I do a quick little search for green bruneau orb so I don't look like a total of noob. Well I'm a total Noob! Ha ha. An orb is a design made while the bruneau is forming. I'm not sure what this little thing in my hand is (thunder egg?) but I'm going to name it------> Orb. I learn so much on RTH, and love to laugh at myself while doing so. Cheers, Matt Attachments:

Thanks Tony, nice stuff, Tony what is the dark greenish rock with a redish patina on some of it. It shines beautifully.

I think I'm going to take it to the arbor and lightly take off the shell and see if I can see inside a bit more. Is so round that it might be something really cool tumbled instead of cut. If it tumbles ugly then I cut the sucker open. If I cut it I'd have to give em a new name

They made you into soup?? Are you beef or chicken stock? Cuz that really effects the path I take in making you into soup. Seriously now... before you do ANYTHING to that little tidbit of happiness, please, I implore you to take a specific gravity. That may be a little chink of jade and you wanna leave it just as it is. Just put in in your pocket as a "worry" stone and fondle it forever for a tiny bit of comfort. Or whatever it is you do with pocketed stones..... (requires more googling...)

Good point shotguner, I'll clean it gently and pocket it for now. Maybe catman has seen more of them in this estate and fill us in on its id. I will see what I can put together to give it a gravity test. Regarding stocked soup, I'm more of a leek & potatoes soup kind of guy Matt

Milt, The green stuff with the red patina is what I call Green Owyhee jasper, it comes from several different areas in the Owyhee mtn range but is basically the Haystack butte area. The old timers used to just walk around and pick those up as they would be laying around all over the place, the patina is probably the Idaho/Oregon equivalent of desert varnish. You never really know what you got until you window it or cut it open.
Matt, Your Orb is probably a baby thunderegg or geode, I have seen a few of them in there as we were loading the trailer. Too bad, I was hoping you did find orbs.
Slabcabber, the lightest large flat rate box so far has been 38 lbs, the heaviest has been 50.4 lbs but that was with some large chunks of cutting rough filled in with tumbling rough. 2 went out today and they were both in the low 40's.
Glad everyone likes it, I think it is some great material.
Tony

The thunder egg has been in my pocket since I got it. I think since it is so small I may tumble it for fun. All the eggs I have are sliced. Would be a cool polished marble. Thanks guys, Matt

Oh yeah, there is still lots left. I sent you a pm Charles. So what did you do with the green lump you found? Tony I wrote a poem about it: Lovely little lithophysae gently tucked away in a bed of short brown hair afloat a salty sea. The morning lark broke my slumber when I discovered thee A pretty shade of nephrite jade I think I'll go and pee.
