Went to an estate sale this morning about an hour after it opened. Most rocks already gone, but I felt lucky anyway. Comments for photos are above each photo. All stones are wet. This looks like a limb cast to me.  But it looks like it is filled with Biggs Jasper. Is that possible?  Pretty green rock. No idea what it is.  Here's the other side.  I figured this was a slab of native copper in host rock.  I think this is jade --- the cut side.  Here is the outside skin of the piece above.  I think this is jade also. Can anybody tell me what kind  Here is a side view of the slab above. It is a little translucent.  Thanks and enjoy! |

I agree jade.
I think you have a petrified root or twig. Sometimes petwood is jasper not agate, and sometimes it is colorful. Biggs jasper is a petrified volcanic mudflow, so not likely to be wood-shaped.

The petrified wood if blueish could be blue forest petrified wood from Wyoming. Nice funds

bhiatt, are you on a cell phone? It did the same thing on my cell phone, but shows up on my computer. I don't know why. I didn't move or delete them.

Nice finds, Ms. Pat! I can't see photos 3 and 4 either (never did see them), and that's on an XP laptop, and my main desktop computer, running windows 7. I believe it's a Photobucket issue, since they are the ones saying "Sorry, The person moved or deleted this image." Jean

Could the gemmy jade be nephrite. I have some and mine looks just like that. It comes from British Coloumbia and Russia

The green slab looks like BC jade (nephrite) but the first green one is a bit of a mystery.

BTW, Biggs being petrified mud does turn up fish fossils on occasion, so it is possible for wood as well, but, I have never seen any, or heard of any.

I agree that McDermitt wood is a good possibility for the limb. If the white specks on the native copper slab are calcite, then it could be campbellite (or something near it). I'll add a third vote for BC nephrite, and maybe malachite or another copper-complex mineral in quartz for the last post (Nevada material also a possibility for this one).
