Ok, that makes more sense. I think that's a driver, not an iron. I think irons are flatter. But I'm not a golfer, so I could be wrong. Either way, I think that's a great idea.

Your right buddy, they are drivers...LOL I'm not into the golf lingo or golf either....... I do have some irons around my house and yard(in different places)......Alot of methheads here in Oregon and I don't trust any of them!!! Not afraid to use them either...Thumbs up! PS: Don't buy the wood drivers, the old style is better to work with, some type of metal. Some cut great, some will give you grief!!! Don't pay over $3.00 for one either, other wise your getting ripped off! They usually go for a $1.00 where I buy them...

Hi Rob - can you help me fix this photo? It's one of our "DIY projects" threads so I'm trying to get them all fixed up after the photobucket mess. This one is missing at the PB level.

Yes I just saw this thread, I wsnt to see Fossilman version pic. It looked similar to this. His was the inspiration for this one, though I didn't bother with drain holes or paint. It survived a day of picking Lavic and saved the back tremendously. This was a "junior" 3-wood, so the shaft was just the right length - no cutting of the shaft was needed. Dave

Inspired by this post I made and tested this unit last season. Take an old paint roller and rip all the plastic off the ends. Bend the metal into a rough circle and cut the plastic handle off at about two inches. Heat a piece of half inch emt conduit scrap handle and shove the plastic handle in while hot and it will melt in place. Cut a scrap piece of half inch hardware cloth to fit as a colander screen leaving extra to bend around the paint roller handle. Make a little pocket of the cloth to form a bowl shape. Very strong and able to dig out rocks, sift gravels and sands, and reach for those treasures. In this photo, note the metal cloth is one inch and is too big. It should be half inch hardware cloth. Also, a bigger belly in the cloth would have been better. Wittle the plastic handle until it fits and melt in place with a torch or candle to heat the pipe. I like straight better than 90's but might give it some angle later.

These are the scoops wife and I used at the beach today for shells, fossils. Made from different Walmart strainers. Drill handle, use epoxy.
