This was a tough decision with all the great slab choices but I cant resist trying the contest slab so I'll take #1. Although the possibility of it breaking will be nerve racking.

Good choice. I have tried to break it (lightly) with thumbs. It seems OK. You can glue a 1/8 thick backing slab and should have no problem.
Adrian has told me that he polkadot (pick#2) so we are ready for the others.
Pick#'s 3 and 5-11 are available. First come first serve. Please post choice here.

Done. Take care (such as backing) to make sure #5 does not turn into #3. PM me shipping address.

That leaves #'s 3,7,9,10,11 for NatureNut/Jo and gr/Gary to choose from.
IMO, #3 offers some possibility to do something similar to Helen's winning design,
... and #11 is an unusual/rare material. It is a chopstick agate, which has bold blue, brown, and black coloration in addition to the chopstick patterns. I only have about 2lbs total of this material.

Daniel thank you for running such a cool contest and congratulations to Helen and to all the great entries for their terrific efforts. I would like #3 please if Gary doesn't want it. Thank you again! Jo

Really interesting contest, Daniel! I've never laid cabs out on the computer but can see how it would save a lot of errors! I must confess to liking Adrian's the best as it incorporated the scene that immediately caught my eye. Very interesting!!!

Thanks Tela:). I REALLY liked your bottom right 3 cabs too!
I think everyone made great cabs, and am so glad everyone got something for entering. It was obviously a very close contest!

I think those were Daniel's. I did one, but I was too late. I rarely have the time to read a lot of the board and I missed the contest. I'm looking towards next time.

Ok, after some delay the prizes went out 1st class padded envelope on Monday. Watch then mail next day or so. (For Adrian and gr, I am still working on your SFRB.)
I was thinking about a highly patterned Noreena slab for the next competition. Any thoughts on how to mix it up? Require a two cab set? Use more than one slab? Restrict the size or shape?
I don't want to make the graphics editing harder on anyone. Any thoughts appreciated.

I just had a problem figuring out the size of the cab. Were there instructions that I missed? Getting the shape wasn't too bad. I have ps6, but only the default shapes. Is there a better way to get shapes?
Other than that- I think what you did was cool the way it was.

using the ruler in the image is best bet. otherwise knowing it was 150 dpi. For PS, it is convenient to scan a template sheet. Use magic wand select tool to take out shapes. Paste into slab image as a new layer, and set opacity to 50%. You can move around or use Edit->Transform to rotate template layer. Try to play w/ this file. people.ku.edu/~deb193/example.psdAlso, you can transfer shape by pasting in pic of cab (like freeform). Have a black layer in addition to slab layer. Use select wand to select freeform shape, select black layer and cut to make custom template. Then resize/transform black layer for size and aspect. then use same as scanned template.
