My youngest son really likes malachite but I have never cabbed it so at the last show we went to he purchased a nice slab of it. I kicked the kids upstairs and got all geared up with the respirator and such and got them done. I really like the cabs but it was a very messy rock to work with. got a few others done while I was at it. Think this is unakite pudding stone Need I.D. on this one (just posted the slabs in the saw and slab section) thanks for looking Chuck

All of these came out great and you have my admiration for attempting malachite! I'm still scared to try it. You did a beautiful job with it, though!!! I really like that unakite too! Very interesting looking stone!

Beautiful malachite, but I have to go with the pudding stone. That stuff rocks my boat.

Nice work on the malachite, it is messy stuff. What did you use to polish it? The pudding stone is nice as well.

Tony - I only went to a 14,000 nova wheel on the malachite. I still need to order a couple leather pads and diamond paste.
The pudding stones are real hit and miss depending on how hard the matrix holding the jasper is. This one was real solid and shined well.

Wow that's a great shine for malachite on just a 14,000 wheel. The only way I can get a shine is with Zam.

Great job on all of them. I think my favorites are the malachites although the pudding stone and the unakite both caught my eye.

What is the mohs for the pudding stone? Could it be tumbled as a cab or small slab?

grizman - the mohs varies all over the place because its made up of different materials. when tumbled any softer portions get ground away more than the rest which results in a bumpy feel so I don't tumble any of the cabs anymore. I do tumble all of my pudding stone saw scraps and any smaller ones we find. this is the last batch I did that had some good pudding stones in it just so you can see how it tumbles. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=trtphoto&action=display&thread=59469Chuck
