Check it out.Nursery trays and pots work well for rocks. That type of greenhouse makes a great rock shed.About the cheapest form of a shed known. Those fence panels come cheap at scrap yards and take a lot of abuse. Those black nursery trays in the small pic hold water. They can be ordered with or w/out holes from Hummert International. They are about 11" x 22" X 2 inches deep.I am also trying containers for doing rock shows and like the display size of these trays and the amount of rocks they display. Many different trays are made like cup cake trays with pockets from 1-4 inches round on the 11 x 22 format.

I can not tell you how perfect a habitat that quonset is for a rock collector. The 16 foot cold frames are cheeeeap.Cover w/5 year plastic. That one is 21 feet wide w/high walls.A lot of nurseries are trying to get rid of them.Need a fan in sunny situation.

Great, now you have wife Carol thinking; she would like more greenhouse space too. Our rocks set outside, but up off the ground in a garden box w/bottom arrangement. She smiled and said how nice a cover would be. My compliments. Larry

You can put a shade fabric on to reduce heat gain.30-40-60-80 coverage. To get a comparison on cost look at Alapaha Greenhouses. They are in Georgia but if you find their prices in you area you did well.My fav time to be in there when it's raining(always in Oregon) or cold or windy.I am a swamp man and hate wind:> Leave cameras, computers, litters of puppies, welding projects, photo shoots, reducing rock, experimental and production plants, etc, etc. out there. You get the message Larry.Carol neeeeeeds a greenhouse baaaaad.Need any more help:>?

I love the idea of using plant trays for organizing tumbles. I love organization but as fast as I can organize it seems even faster to unorganize. My most favorite idea I had for re-purposing for displaying my favorite tumbles and works is using old typography drawers. I have one in front of my fireplace. Attachments:

It's good.Typography rack w/all those compartments is perfect display. It is easy to contaminate(good choice of wording) grit. That is functional. Is that an old 32 oz. deposit bottle flat with the hardball chunks?

It's an old Pepsi deposit box. Says drink Pepsi Cola 12 bottles, Medford Oregon. I like re-purposing old boxes and things to display.

Dear wife sells vintage on Etsy.I collect scrap iron to build everything.Even tumbler is built out of old factory push cart.Cool.Reusing stuff is easy on enviro and saves a lot of money. It would take a lot of time to build that deposit box.....and the wood would cost ya.People throw some good stuff away In that greenhouse where the rocks are The 42 inch industrial fan and it's1/2 HP motor Eight 45 foot long steel pipes 8" in diameter(to set boxes on) Tall shelf at other end on left Textile factory supports under 8" pipes Concrete slab supports under pipes are paper mill roofing panels About all of that i hauled away for free from the industrial district of south Atlanta 8 miles away from my home Sanford and son

There is just too much organization going on here. You are making me feel guilty. But not guilty enough to get that organized. It looks great though. I admire your energy. I used to have some of that. Jim

James, There are hundreds of folks on this forum that want to go to your yard sale when you move (no matter where it is!). Me I'm not moving to anywhere with a harder winter than here. Tom

We reuse what we have, too. When we removed the pool, we took out most of the redwood deck. From that, we shored up several retaining walls, and made a little planter with a bench on top all the way around.
Seeing the price of wood, you'd think wood didn't grow on trees!

Since the kids grew up and moved out, we much prefer flowers and fruit trees to the pool.
