Thanks Tim. I am sure I have the Wenden. I only photographed the most photogenic today. All the rest were kinda bland in comparison!! Is Burro Creek in western AZ? I wont have to go all the way to Phoenix??!!! Awesome! Thanks Helen. I wasn't going to spend all that effort and not thoroughly document it. As it was I missed so much great scenery it is mind boggling. Sheri, I promise to call you first next time.

Awesome report Scott! Tim sure loaded you up.. how was your gas mileage on the way home? ;D
That was the coolest little rattler I've ever seen.. though I don't care to see another one lol. It was a pleasure to meet you and Rick, hope to do it again some day!

Gas mileage on the trip was 21 mpg. My truck gets 21 mpg no matter what I do or where I drive.
Brian, when we go out again, we have a 50/50 shot of me finding another rattlesnake. If the weather is good, I see one about every other time I go out! Different spots, different species!
Can you guys tell me where burro creek is so I can get an idea?

Burro Creek is next to Nothing and west of Nowhere. :-) That has to be the funniest TRUTHFUL description of a location I have ever heard! I see that the area is full of different materials and is in the Gem Trails book. That one looks like a camping trip. I have plenty of time to get a sledge and chisel.

Scott, you took off the part about being a foody! I thought of you the other day when I saw a van from a catering company that had a license plate which read (heart) MY FOOD - lol! Would've liked to have taken a photo, but my old school cell phone doesn't take pics, and I didn't have a camera. I like my food, too... Jean

No, it's still there. In the part after wenden Before we left for Tim's.
So, now I am still a foodie, but have eliminated sugar, wheat/grains from my diet. Meats, fruits vegetables only.

Yes, Tim. Actually you discovered it so you get to name it. If you decide to name it after me, then, please.... it is scottsolarite!
Folks, that stone is a glassy blue stone. It definitely compares to jasper but in a blue color not often seen. I have a cube cut from a hunk Tim shared some time ago and now a 20 pound piece found on our last trip! I cannot wait to share images of finished product. Perhaps Tim has one?
I pick goods friends sometimes.

Great pics - especially that green/purple serpentine.
That was really a huge chunk of pyrite?? Would love to get my hands on 20 lbs. to tumble. Got a few chunks from tandl about 2.5 years ago, but only one made it through rough grind. Still looking forward to polishing it completely.

Great pics - especially that green/purple serpentine. That was really a huge chunk of pyrite?? I love that serpentine too. That is why I brought home the entire boulder! Plus a few other smaller rocks. As for pyrite cube. It was all red and rusty and definitely cube shaped. It is fractured and pieces are missing, so who knows? Even the fractures are along cubic lines. My opinion is; I wish I had more energy to have perhaps broken some off to examine. Sorry for the non-answer. What you did not ask about was the unicorn. I have it on good authority that yes, that is the true unicorn. It is a desert species. Not a normal inhabitant of elven forests. Everybody thinks they are fictitious because they are looking for them in the wrong place. And when folks see them in the desert they think they are a horse.

Well, Beef and I could not sleep at night knowing about the piece of Worm Track Agate we left behind, so early today we headed back hoping it was still there. Here is a shot from the site looking down. Here is our baby calling to us to save her and give her a good home. ;D Beef getting ready to pop her out after a 1.5 hours of hard rock mining Our baby in her new home. Unfortunately we had to share. Sorry Scott we was only able to cut it once. :cheesy: A close up. Tim
