Hey Sheldon74, I am heading up to Cobalt the last week in August to detect for silver. I usually spend most of my time in the area around Brady Lake. I started coming there in the 80's and then again a couple of years ago. My how things have changed. If you want someone to go detecting with, let me know and I will contact you when I get up there.

Sheldon, you said you can't get lost on the back roads of Cobalt but I must caution everyone that you CAN get lost in the woods. I spent a night lost near Herman's pond while searching for float. It was too dark to find my way out. The OPP and their dogs helped me get out the next morning. That was back in the mid. 80's. Lol

Lol, did you find any silver at least? You are a legend around these parts about having to spend the night in the bush while detecting. People still talk about you Good thing they found you! There has been more than one time where I have headed into the bush with my head down looking at the ground while detecting and then stop and look up and wonder where I am. I usually do not stroll off the minesites too far and if I do I can usually hear a car in the distance drive by. Nothing like Herman's Pond though. That's too far in the bush for me. But it would certainly be nice to find a 100 lb. chunk of solid native silver on the ground!
