Hi, I'm from finegemdesigns and the purple agate has the name Henderson Amethystine as noted on my website. For documentation see page 219 of the Agate Guide compiled by Lowell Foster. www.zbestvalue.com/public/2012AgateIndexVol2Northwest.pdfI bought some rough from Ron many years ago and now sell slabs on eBay.

Wow. I don't think there's much more to be said. Handsome material all around.

Wow, that purple agate is real uncommon now. Great find! I think your giant mossy piece could be Horse Canyon material. Your piece you think might be Owyhee looks more like Goldfield, NV Bullseye Agate to me ( actually a highly silicated rhyolite from the Goldfield Gem claims)....Mel

Hi, in spite of the somewhat spammy post I'm honored to have my 2013 post brought back from it's peaceful sleep It reminds me that I never did do much with that material. It sits in it's own pile in my backyard. I cut one piece back in 2014 and wasn't very impressed with it as a cabbing material so I stopped. Maybe I should take a fresh look at it.

There's also a purple agate in Buffington Pocket near Valley of Fire, which is just east of Vegas/Henderson. A guy gave me a couple of chunks at a show I did in Vegas. The exterior is a soft white crust, like in your pictures. Our club went once looking for it, but didn't have good directions & found nothing. Lynn

There is also some purple agate out by Lake Las Vegas. And out at our club's claim. Purple agate and jasper are common in a number of places around here.

Hi Mike - this post was from 2013 - they were in their mid nineties at the time - not sure if they made it to Oregon! haha - just kidding. Orlando I think - to be close to their kids in the waning years of life.
