Doing a little research on stops for our Sedona trip. I had someone recommend stopping at Oatman on our trip across Arizona for Fire Agate. The Gem Trails says it's a fee site, my friend said nothing about that. He said the town was fun and to watch out for the burros. Is it a good stop for collecting?

Fee site, last I heard 40/per person per day. It's going to be hotter than Hades down there this time of year. Hard rock mining in a cramped pit.

Were hoping to do a little rockhounding, not mining. May skip if there isn't a free area around. We can't spend the whole day there. $40 would be a bit steep for an hour or so. Thanks for the info. Don.

It is the Cuesta Fire Agate mine and yes it is fee collecting. Some really nice fire agate from there. Don Nelson will make sure you get your money's worth. It would have to be an early morning dig. It has been about 113 or so all week here but I'm guessing warmer there and hard work. If you do go say hello to Don for me.
