man I hate millipedes... they used to pile up in the fall and you'd stumble onto a pile of them and the smell. man I start gagging just thinking about it.

Actually those stains may be minor skin burns. Many millipedes secrete caustic substances that can cause burns as a defense mechanism. Some species actually excrete cyanide. As a kid we used to race them but they should probably not be handled much and you definitely want to wash your hands well afterwards.....Mel

These do not smell John Herchenx. But my photos were bad cause I was in a hurry to get this thing off me..
The little ones in Georgia have smell from hell-I know exactly which ones you are talking about.
I used a chain saw today for almost 5 hours Mel. That usually replaces the top layer of skin and makes my hands look very clean. I can tell this stain runs deep. Must have been 'causticized' since nothing will remove it. I am bad about letting bugs do there thing on me just to see how bad it is.

Jim, those stains will only go away when the skin they stained wears away.
In my experience all millipedes do at least that. As Mel said some also burn.
You can also get stoned on them.
Those Florida millipedes are common in the pet trade. The dealers would pay you $1 each.

That is the most stoned creature I have ever seen.
Bet that millipede would knock me into the dirt if I chewed on it.
Not gonna happen.
That is a very funny video. I got a buzz just watching the lemur. The millipedes are out in force w/all the rain.
