Dang you rockjunquie now you got me wanting some. I had to look it up and it is georgous. It's pricey and harder to get, but it is worth it. I have quite a few cabs. The polished cabs look like a micro jungle environment. Ohh had no doubt. The stuff I find beautiful is usually $$$ or located in same strata as unobtanium.

I've treated the piece with Opticon in an attempt to strengthen the whole rock and now it's in 1,000. It's not much bigger than a thumbnail so I've got to go easy on this. If this test piece ends up being ground down to nothing, I will at least have the other 2 small pieces to hang onto.
I will be going to China as soon as flights open, to take my wife back to her family to see them. There are several large rock dealers and gem/jewelry stores in Wuhan. One has a large area of Charoite. Perhaps Maw sit sit is in there too. There are times that I've thought of investing a bit in some rock or mineral other than gold, but I want to avoid jadeite or nephrite. Maybe Maw sit sit would be a potential for that.

That first week in 1,000 made progress, but a porous area that is about 1/3 of the thing still exists. Going to try to soak that in some diluted epoxy to save it. If I saw or cleave off that porous part, the remaining will only be size of a pea and hope to avoid having to do that.
Still figure this first piece of the 3 is experimental to learn on. Still startling to see this bright green when rinsing otherwise blah blah rocks.

This maw sit sit is strange stuff. Even running just 600 and 1,000, it seems every piece has at least one side or region that has some odd black cleavage material that doesn't look good, kind of like the frustrations one gets when working schorl. The rest of the piece looks okay though. I'm just giving up on getting any piece to come out perfect from 1,000, and will soon put one through polish stage just to see what happens.
So far I'm getting the impression that it might be too soft to rotary tumble very well. I can tell it loses significant volume even in 600 and 1,000. And the feel of the material isn't smooth--it's kind of got a unique granular feel to the touch--kind of like the skin of an avocado but on a finer scale.
