I slipped with a pointy cab and dug out a piece of my 1200 wheel. I just bought 3 new wheels and haven't even gotten them on, yet. I didn't get a new 1200, though. Guess, I'll be getting the others now. I have a growing list of wants and needs. This is my first set of wheels. I am hoping the wear will be better on the new set. Live and learn.

that's a bummer. I just noticed last night that my 1200 is wearing through. I was kinda caught off guard since I spend more time and push harder at the 280 wheel and that one still looks ok. Much like yourself I keep a list of things I need for the equipment and try to prioritize where my money goes.

Surprise!

I agee, OUCH!!!! How long did the first set last? The set lasted a little more than a year. BUT- it was my first set of wheels and I think my next set will last better now that I know what I'm doing... I think.

A year is about the average life for those, that's about how long mine last. I'm always stubborn though, I wait until it takes me two hours to do one cab before I replace them. lol

Ouch! you might be able to get a little more life out if it Tela. I've got a 3000 that has a chunk like that missing and it hasn't bothered the performance of the wheel one bit. It was almost brand new when it happened though.

You might call Diamond Pacific (if it is a Nova) wheel. Tell them what happened they might just send you another one in exchange.

Ouch indeed! I got about year and half out of my Pixie wheels got to buy another set as the 220 and 380 is wearing through that what I been doing all summer working O.T & saving for supplies I agree that inexperience can cause quicker wheel deterioration mostly

The injury to the wheel was my fault, not the wheel's fault. John was kind enough to give me the price break on the set since I just bought 3 wheels last week. I didn't expect it and I was very pleased. THAT'S the way to do business.

I've had good luck resurfacing my Nova types when I get a wear patch like that. I don't like the way the finer grits do, but for rougher grits up to 600 I've had fine luck. T

T I thought abt doing that. I'm gonna keep my old wheels and try resurfacing sometime. This one was gouged by a cab, it still has some life left.

I think you can use that wheel as is for quite some time. I used a 1200 I wore the center down to the black foam pushing a koroit opal a little too hard (I just knew there was fire in there) for a long time. I finally got tired of only using the outer edges. If you cab a lot one year is probably about average. Some gentle users average 3 years. Your wheels are no where near worn out. I use them until I'm down to the foam. The rough factory texture wears smooth but the diamond is all through the colored layer to the foam. If they are not cutting well you can try reversing them to clear any glazing.

I'm trying to find out how to reverse them now. I searched RTH with google and couldn't find anything. I'm glad you explained how far I can use the wheels. Thanks.

I recommend resurfacing your wheels. I've been doing it for about 2 1/2 years. I use diamond powder from a guy on eBay & 30 min epoxy from Superstition Hobbies. Google them. 1200 grit cost me $28 for 100 carats. I use 10 carats on a 3x8" belt. That works out to 3.75 carats on a 1.5x6" wheel. That's a little over a buck's worth of diamond. Lynn
