Nothing like drinking a few, listening to country songs and being depressed and ready for bed by 9pm with thoughts of suicide. That's about the time I crank up Metallica as crying in your beer is no fun. I do admit I like the more upbeat country rock songs and if I am going to listen to vintage it would be something like Waylon.
My neighbors are all country freaks I always find great joy watching them after we've all been drinking and some of the depressed crap that starts rolling out of their mouths and finding out im not the only one screwed up around here.

Thanks for posting that link, Rob. I like songs that tell a story, provide a viewpoint or have a message. This one's a good one by Charlie Daniels
Lee, you are sometimes "subjected to" country music at work? That's funny. Slow torture, huh?
Rob, if you're someone that is easily depressed, good idea to stay away from the sad ones. Upbeat and funny are more my speed, and there are plenty of them.
My sister just went to a Willie Nelson concert, brought back a lot of memories for her. She just told me about Pandora Radio. She made a personal internet station with Willie as the anchor. It's been throwing out some great music!

Jean I wouldn't say I was someone that was exactly easily depressed.....I was trying to make the point that after listening to a couple hours of 'the love my live left me' 'the dog got ran over' 'she divorced me for the butcher' 'daddy got drunk and dumped us' 'mommy ain't mommy' and countless others combined with a few a beers creates a less than upbeat mood.
I'm sure some of the lyrics in heavy metal aren't much better but they scream a lot and I can't understand them lol.

Sorry, Rob, let me rephrase that... ANYBODY that is subject to depression, should stay away from stuff that's going to bring them down. I meant you, plural, not singular. I did not mean to insinuate anything personal.
I get ya about heavy metal lyrics. They are usually beyond me!

I like old Country, Roger Miller, early Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton, Marty Robbins (love me some old Marty Robbins, "Gunfighter Ballads"). But this new stuff, I can't abide by. I cried and wore black awhile when Johnny died, though.
Frankly, I listen to IDM, synth pop and most techno, in general. ***Please don't throw shoes.....****
Check out this sad song- just give it a try and really listen to the lyrics. (Lyrics posted on youtube.) In all honesty, it is the saddest song I have ever heard. Sinead O'Conner, "Stretched on your Grave" is sad too.

Jean...i'm not easily offended and if I am I usually don't stay that way for long so don't worry about it lol. People that get under my skin are the ones that like to dish it out but can't take it back and if you do give it back it's like the worse thing ever and then they stay mad forever.
How did you ever have all that hair in a baseball cap I never would've guessed lol? Looks nice. I still haven't had the patience to deal with the av pic thing i'm sure it's not that difficult lol.
Well I suppose I should get up and get something done now lol. Sitting here trying to wake up waiting for the coffee to kick in.

Rob, glad to hear we are on the same wavelength here. I'll be sure to never take you on, LOL!
Thanks for the compliment on the avatar. Maybe I'll leave it up for awhile. I sometimes wear my hair in a ponytail or braid, but mostly I twist it into a bun on the back of my head. When I wear a ballcap, the bun sticks through the opening on the back of the cap. But my hair is really fine anyway (thanks, mom), so I could even put it under a cap.
Six o'clock in the morning here. Haven't even gotten my coffee yet. Today I'm going to make some small cabs and try my hand at wirewrapping them as rings. Should be fun!
Hope you have an eventful day!

Lee, you are sometimes "subjected to" country music at work? That's funny. Slow torture, huh? If you heard what passes as country around here you would understand. I like bluegrass, folk, celtic, all kinds of music, but top 40 country/pop they put out these days is just the redneck white trash version of the mindless stuff from folks like 'lil wayne, rihanna and the like. Just like going to the rock and gem show and seeing the difference between the tables covered with Chinese mass produced stuff and the work of a true lapidary artist. Radio stations seem to gravitate to the LCD when it comes to artistry in music. Unfortunately the Ukrainian fellow who I sometimes work with doesn't like the "old hippie music" on the music station I prefer. Lee

Tela, I agree that the old school country/folk/rock of the 60's and 70's rocks, esp the man in black. IDM, had to look it up, shows how old I am. If it's mostly like this I can deal with adding a little into the mix. I'm a drummer/percussionist so the all electronic techno is just too repetitive for me.
Liked your song, I love good poetic lyrics that say something .
