Prepare to be underwhelmed lol This is my first "windowed" fire agate and it is the smallest cab I have tried to make. It started off embedded in a lot of rough material. I wanted to see if I could get it down to just the "fire" portion. I learned it is a real bugger to work something this small. I took off most of my fingernails in the process Front Back It was a fun exercise that I do not think I will be repeating anytime soon. This silly thing took "hours" to do. And; there is also the other thing.....what do you do with something this small lmao?? Roger

I admire your tenacity. You really just jump right in and go for it. Good for you and great job on the little cab.

I think you did an excellent job on your first fire agate. I agree this would make a nice ring stone. I think it could even be used in a multi-stone or small pendant. I hope you change your mind and decide to cut more!

Thanks all Chris, I would enjoy cutting more - but; when they are available those little buggers are pricey. Locally, they are $5.00/gram. The one I cut was traded to me for a Woodward Ranch cab I made. On that note; I made my first "commercial" transaction for cabs I made

While FA is expensive in comparison to other material, he has certainly better prices than what you received and to top it off, Chris has some really good material for beginners as well as advanced cutters.

looks like a fine fire agate ! you can get good rough for around 40 a lbs I wouldn't mind trying some more. It takes me a while to work it down; but it is really fun to be a voyuer and watch through the "window" as the fire starts to show. Where/who is a reasonable place to purchase some rough and not need to worry too much that it will all be poor quality? Thanks! Roger

On that note; I made my first "commercial" transaction for cabs I made I offer 5 stone parcels of fire agate windows for $49 shipped in the USA. You can click on my facebook link and browse my albums there. I think I have a half a dozen or so parcels posted there. If you are not on facebook just let me know and I can send you some photos.

Very nice little fire agate, even if it is small and yes definitely would make a nice ring! You could do a wire wrapped ring.
