Mel said he thought about letting a harvester ant sting him the other day.
I am glad he did not. I caught a little 5 inch snapper and thought about letting him pop me.
I will take a 10 pound snapper bite over a harvester ant any day.
Today i worked hard today and for the first time did not swell like a balloon from the toe biter thing.
The lightening density in central Florida is the densest in the world. I was never freaked by it except there. I have seen it hit 20 times in 10 minutes within 200 yards. The building codes require serious grounding. Some of that is because of the low conductivity of the lightning rods in the sand.

Here's one Juvenil de Micrurus surinamensis (Coral aquática) I had no idea there were so many different kinds!

Not in the USA. Jean thanks for the heavy lifting. BUT PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THE INTERNET. Even if she says she is a supermodel. This website animals.pawnation.com/differences-between-coral-snakes-kingsnakes-5953.html says if red touches black it is not a coral snake. In which they put a picture of a coral snake in which red touches black. That phrase red to yellow kill a fellow, red touches black a friend of jack ONLY WORKS IN THE USA! And it gets some non-coral snakes killed. definitely NOT a coral snake. jean has more images of similar snakes.

OK, never seen the tailless whip scorpion before and it's right up there in ugliness with the solpugids *L*
Man it sucks when coral snakes don't listen to nursery rhymes huh? I had heard that red on yellow or white on red only applied to all North American coral snakes. That last one is quite beautiful by the way.....Mel

Scott, are you saying the image I posted off the internet of a Micrurus surinamensis is NOT A Micrurus surinamensis (Surinam coral snake)? I know they don't always get images named correctly, but it seems there are quite a few pics from different sources of the same animal. Please elucidate. Oh, I see, you're saying there are no coral snakes in the US that don't have a black nose. But James only asked "Is there any coral snake that does not have a black nose?" he didn't qualify hte in the US part. I can go you one better, I got the live animal, the real McCoy. I think I've already posted (maybe not?) pics of that on the snake/reptile thread you started. And, I've also owned a scarlet kingsnake, and several SD mountain kings (L. zonata pulcra). Now those were some beautiful snakes! And had some nice looking tri-color Honduran milksnakes that were red/black/yellow. Tell me, if you saw a snake with those three colors, and it was like four feet long, there's no way it's a coral snake that big, right? They stay small - 18" or so? Okay, run with it, Scott! I bow to your superior knowledge in things snakey/reptilian!

Okay, speaking of "wrong" things on the internet, if you want to see how stupid-crazy some people are, here is a youtube of some dudes that purposefully are getting bit by bullet ants. Kids are even crazier than when I was one

I bow to your superior knowledge in things snakey/reptilian! OH MY GAWSH! No that was not my intent. I must be derped. Or at least socially inept! No. Not at all! Your surinamense was perfect. That is why I thanked you for the heavy lifting. Dang I suck if you thought that! No, while I was searching for his answer I found that other crappy website with bad information. The Black Banded coral snake I placed image of for panamark gets like a solid 4 feet. The old boys back in the 1970's who collected sinaloans for the pet trade would take advantage of very brief activity periods. They would grab sinaloans and toss them in a bag hop back in the car and get another. Common to bag 100 a night. Go to bed. Wake up and split the spoils. They told me it was very common to grab a coral accidentally and bag it. Like 1 in 20! Thats 5% the wrong snake, they were in such a hurry! They claimed coral was the same pattern as a sinaloan black to red and all of four feet. Wiki says 5' aint rare. Please accept a humble apology. That certainly was not my intent at all. I suck.

Thats just as bad as blowing "Fire ant" piles up with firecrackers back in the "60's"....Nothing worse than pissed off ants flying through the air from an explosion!!! LMAO My brothers and I can't count how many times we got bit... Ok another bad one is a spine off "Bullhead" catfish!!! Had a spine go into my left hand as a kid, hurt like hell and was hurting for a week or so,some numbness too....(All the way up to my elbow) Was bit by a nonpoison snake years ago, that was on a bet(Beer was involved too),it wasn't to bad,but wouldn't do it again...(Can't remember the name of the snake..)North Dakota snake anyhow...

no firecrackers in California. So we set paper bags of dog poo on fire and left them on porches. Rang the doorbell and ran.
matches - free Paper bag - free filling it with dog poo - crappy job watching cranky old man stomp out the fire - priceless!
