Like I said, let my fingers heal up first. That constantly getting them wet and then dry is what causes the problem... mostly. I can slab and cab, take pics and post. But I can go ya one better - I can bring to Quartzsite in January for a firsthand look.

What is the 2nd to the last w/little chunks in it. burgundy ish in color. Those are fine looking Jean. The last one w/ purple and orange is sexy. James, your guess is as good as mine, lol! @shotgunner got a similar sized chunk just like it! Kind of reminds me of a jello and whipped cream parfait. Parts of it are not real solid, but there should be a few nice slabs in it. Will have to join the rock club again, once they get their new shop set up, so I can use one of their big saws to cut it up. It weighs 44 lbs. Bob and Scott both humped a few big monsters down out of the hill. Someone had said they want to see slabs and cabs from these. Ah, it was orrum. (Quoted it because I just wanted to see his "green with envy" statement again, lol.) Give me a little time to let my split fingers heal up, orrum, and I'll get right to it! Edit - Scott, I hope you are feeling better! Jean I think that burgundy brecciated white chunky stuff we both have is going to break our hearts. Lately, all the rocks break my heart. I'm gonna bet it's half calcite/half agate. Notice how the layers wore down in the bacon area?

Scott, I just took another look at it. I'm sure you're right (it will break our hearts), but there may be a few useable slabs to come off it. The layers in the bacon area will probably separate. I did see some small calcite crystals on one side of it.
Would it be best to just cut it in half first, and reassess? Or just start taking slabs from the side, and keep going?

Hell I dunno. I prolly will just start slicing.

This was my first rock hounding trip with folks from RTH. I had a blast! Here are my photos from the trip. [snip for brevity sake] I am almost done cleaning my finds. i will post photos. Paul it was a true pleasure to hang with you and all the rest. I am sorry I missed your pics before, glad I found them today. Yes, I like that rock! haha!! Thanks for putting me on it. Thinking of another adventure in January to a completely different area. Waiting for response to a PM before I go live with it.

Paul, I didn't get a chance to tell you that you did a superb job of piloting your Pilot, rounding up rocks in their native wild habitat! You found a lot of kool stuff, can't wait to see the photos.

And FYI, my fingers were wasted from the prospecting trip earlier this month, not from the Cady trip.

Great trip reports and images everyone. They bring on my old-time rock-hunting lust but I'm a bit past my pick-and-shovel prime. Thanks for keeping us stay-at-homes informed. It looks as if you scored some great rough that should give you all a lot of pleasure.

Hey Scott/Shotgunner you put on a great trip. Lots of folks contributed and helped but bottom line is that you kept rolling the ball uphill and crosscountry to get the trip to happen and be a success...... My hats off to you sir!!!!!
Now me n Jamesp are gonna put you and your "rocks" in the "we went to the moon" category...... Jamesp wants to see your finds, rocks, collectibles, treasure, hunks, chunks, crystals, specimens, bug bites, poison ivy, chiggers, split fingers, bumped toe, bad hair day!!!!! We will not Subside until you prove up!!!!!

For the record, I have already posted all the photos taken during the field trip, as well as pics taken at home of the haul. That's all there is! I believe Tommy has also complied. So save your lambasting, admonishing, harangueing, criticizing, scolding, reprimanding, chiding, berating, upbraiding, castigating, and censuring (I can think of more, but you get the idea) for the individuals who have not yet fulfilled this requirement.
I do have information on the Brubaker-Mann Quarry (Thanks again for IDing that, John!) and identity of the green rock which was quarried there. Just found this out last night, will post it as soon as I get it typed up.

I'm always impressed how similar North Cady material is to my local southern utah rocks. I can probably find a match out in my back yard for every rock pictured in this thread.
