We entered the feather river lapidary tumbling contest this year and it was supposed to be for my boys but they both started getting bored with tumbling about the same time these rocks arrived and they had lost interest by the time these were out of 60/90. I ended up taking over to get them done so it was a joint effort. Well today I was super excited to open the mail when I seen the letter from the "world rock tumbling competition". This was our first year to enter and certainly did not enter planning to win but with a lot of luck and a little skill we pulled it off. I hope they put the rocks to good use since we don't get them back. Getting the check was great and the letter was a nice personal touch. Here's a few pictures for new members that were not around to follow the process. The rough to work with And the rocks we sent in to be judged Thanks for looking, Chuck, Darren and Andrew

Congratulations, guys! That's quite an accomplishment. So shiny, look like glass. (But then, that's the only way you know how to do them!)

You suck Chuck! LOL, joking of course. While I go through a long learning curve you guys turned out some of the best polished rocks I have ever seen. Congrats to you and your bored kids LOL, I know all about that. "Mom, Dad can I get a puppy I promise I will feed it". The rocks turned out fantastic you guys can be very proud, and I think I speak for us all when I say the RTH community is very proud of you too!!!!!
I have my first ever batch of rocks in the UV10 on the pre-polish stage, I have tried to use the most perfect rocks from 220 batches from both the rotary tumbler and the new UV10. I was never happy with anything I turned out of the QT66 Lortone, if I got 1/10th the shine you get I would be happy.
Congratulations again guys.

That's great, Chuck! Those finished pictures are great. I've never seen rocks any shinier than those. You have to have that letter framed to hang in your shop/showroom. It would be nice to bring it along to shows you do too.

Thanks for all the nice compliments and a huge thanks for all the advice and support we have gotten from all of the members here along the way. When we found this forum 2 yrs ago we had a toy store tumbler with a plastic barrel and no clue how to use it.
I do think I'll get the letter framed for the shop, I like that idea. Maybe even a frame made with tumbled stones .... you got the wheels spinning now.

Hey Chuck, a lot of us here thought you might win. Congrats!!! Those rocks are shinier than water wet. Incredible. Can you remind us again what the material was?
Hopefully you have one rock that was just about as nice as the ones you submitted (and they kept!). You can put it in the award frame. Maybe you can take a disappointing one of the batch and smash it back to rough stage and also put that in the frame. That would be a cool display for sure.
Again congrats. We are proud of your accomplishment!

Thanks again everyone. Mark - the material was "tuledad canyon agate" and we have about a half pound left but none are as nice as what we sent in. It all took a liquid shine but we sent in all the stuff with good color and patterns.
