What? If it's on the internet, it has to be true, right? Right? They couldn't say it if it wasn't true...
Folks much smarter than me get fooled all the time.

I use it to keep water off stuff, but I'm not a chemist either. I read that here.. I don't believe everything I read on the Internet, which is why I asked. I put mine in the form of a question also. Jim

I am gonna order some of Smokey's stuff from John tonight. I haven't put oil back in the saw after mucking. Blade is 80% used. Gonna try it.

Hi John
Could not seem to find how many onces per bottle, just weight. How many gallons of lube will a bottle make? Can it be shipped to Canada? If its not classed as dangerous goods it should be alowed
Thanks

EZ Cut comes in 32oz, 1 quart bottles. Mix 2oz for hard rock per 1 gallon of water, get 16 gallons of coolant. Mix 1oz for soft rock. Gem Lube comes in quart, gallon & 5 gallon containers. Mix 10 parts water to 1 part of Gem Lube.
Another thought. I'd use caution using these products on large expensive blades, like 20-24". Replacement blades cost about the price of my whole saw! Guess you can experiment & see how the blades hold up. With a 10" blade, I'll get usually 3 slabs cutting maximum size (3 1/2") hard rock before sharpening. And it's a pleasure to trim with the hood off and not make a mess. Everything rinses off with water leaving no residue.

Thanks, Larry. If you will cut multiple types of rocks figure on the 16 gallons per bottle. I think it should be able to ship to Canada but have not tried yet. It is non-hazardous, non-aerosol, non-flammable.

My problem is I only cut extremely hard agate/jasper, all 7+. And lets say you only get 70-80% blade life compared with using mineral oil. Would it be worth it? I think so. I'll experiment using 4oz of EZ Cut to 1 gallon of water and see how the 303 blade holds up.

Wow, only 3 cuts before sharpening? I don't know when I last sharpened my 10" 303c. It's been months. I cut agate almost exclusively and have been cutting nothing but West Texas agate lately, which tends to be quite hard.
Can't wait to hear the results Shotgunner!

Mohave Desert agates are notoriously hard. I quite often hear about dressing every 6-7 cuts. Depends a lot on blade speed and feed pressure. If I force feed 4" agates through my MK101 (3450 rpm) I can feel the cut slow after 3-4 cuts.

Because of finances I use the cheap blades on my Lortone 12 and I never dress them. I cut a lot of everything from thulite the softest to hard agate and my cuts come out so smooth that Helen thought I had polished them part way. Plus, my carriage is so worn out that I can lift the blade side of it up 1/8 inch. I have jammed wedges under the cross shafts of the off side of the carriage to keep that side from moving but if I do it of the blade side I can not cut as close to the clamp as I want to.
I have been using oil and it will be easy to see if the water lube works. Jim

Just got off the phone with John and he is sending me a bottle up to Canada (if he can) I really need to read closer his description clearly states how many gallons of product one bottle makes, sheesh:)
If this works even close to how oil works it will be awesome, can't wait to try it,
Thanks John

Tom, after reading your comment earlier, I edited the description on the web site. It now includes the information on how many gallons per bottle. You are no crazier than the rest of us.

I even tried using BD's 303P porcelain blade which is .060 thick and the diamond matrix is about 3/8" tall, instead of the usual 1/4" tall on the lapidary blades. It cut great except had to stop using it because it was too noisy. Neighbors were raising their eye brows when I was using it. Not suppose to be sawing on my patio because we have strict rules. And you noticed the 50% more thickness while trimming. Was a little tough on the finger tips from having to push a little harder. But I'll sacrifice blade life over the ease of using water over oil.

Tom, I actually bought horse laxative mineral oil and still decided to give this a try. LarryS is very persuasive! I promise a report, but you will be cutting before I have cut long enough to make an opinion.

Hi Scott, Well by the time the pony express gets the bottle to the border, then customs goes through it with or without a fine toothed comb, adds there "little" tax grab and gets it into the hands of the Canadian pony express you may have worn out your blade by the time I am cutting LOL. BTW horse laxative makes for a great cutting medium.
Take care
