LOL Ed,You're gonna have to fight my dog Jake, to change my name to Methuselah.
Maybe a certain person from this forum who hacked and destroyed my FB account can change it for you. Got a little surprise waiting for them the next time they hack one of my accounts. (Can you say fried hard drive)?

Just started Steve King's newest Doctor Sleep.
Seems to be a followup of The Shining.

This thread reminded me of one the funniest books I ever read It was 30 years ago I had forgotten all about it so after one of those recollection searches (I had forgotten the title but knew it was about a duck ) I found it! I recall it being a short book and hilarious! I'm going to get it out to the library soon As anyone ever read this or the author Jim Dodge?

The best western I have ever read (and I read a lot ) was the cowboy and the Cossack written by a woman , Elmer Keith was also a great western writer He was born and raised in west Texas ,there was another writer that was raised in Tx and wrote westerns about a ranch in blessing Tx great series , Has anyone read On The Beach,, Q B 7 , When I was 13 I had blood poisoning that started right above my left hand and just about to enter my shoulder (read remove my left arm )when the antibodies finally stopped it , my mother bought me books to read to keep my mind off the blood poisoning the Hardy Boys, Trixie Belton ,Power Boys ,,We were there series , I was hooked for life ... There was a book written in the 70s doomsday type cant remember the name Peter Capstick always told a great story You have to love the early African stories of hunting and exploring . So many great reads not enough time sorta like rock hunting and cutting you don't know if a good book / or rock till you get into it ...up at 0300 went to dentist Friday 8 hrs in her chair none of it pleasant 2 root canals 3 cut out 3 filled .

I'm a huge reader, but books only..I have a nook, but hate reading that way,so quit....Got to love the feel of books when I read them. I only read nonfiction too. Read everyday in school, plus visit the library here and check out four or five books a month..... Have a collection that fills two book cases... Wife is a reader too,so no problem reading when she is home..... No authors come to mind,I like them all.....

Over the past two decades my two favorite authors have been Elmore Leonard (recently deceased)
and
James Ellroy (stopped writing a decade or more ago)
Elmore Leonard was quite prolific and authored westerns in the 50's to the 70's including Hombre, Mr Majestyk, and 3:10 to Yuma In the 70's he switched to crime, small time hustlers and cons and that ilk. He produced some very realistic depictions of people who are criminal and live within the rest of society. Two of his best characters are Raylan Giins (tv series justified) and Chile Palmer (Get Shorty)
James Ellroy wrote several books about LA post WW2 including the Black Dahlia and LA Confidential. He wrote three books in a trilogy that describes as a "secret history" of the USA in mid-to-late 20th century with fictitious characters and depictions of J E Hoover, Howard Hughes, Kennedy, etal...very gripping conspiracy theory stuff that is quite believable to a point.
In prior days I really likes the Lonesome Dove books by Larry McMurtry and other books by him including depictions of legends like Billy the Kid, Pretty Boy Floyd, wild Bill, calamaty jane and The Last Picture Show
I really liked Rich Man Poor Man by Irwin Shaw The Godfather books by Puzo Sherlock holmes and the hardy boys when I was much younger
and Stephen King but it is hard to top the Stand
