Those are little agate nodules, and the circles make them cool little eye-agates. And the red ones do look like bubblegum agate from S Dakota and Arizona (gr finds similar pieces around Holbrook, though not as large.)
I'd love to know where those came from in California. That windblown patina-look makes those little eyes pop!

Jean spends a lot of time hounding in two areas. Ocotilo Wells and Indian Pass. My guess is these are Ocotillo Wells materials but that is only due to a short prior discussion. She'll be back next weekend. rockpickerforever?

Cut one!! no I meant cut one of those rocks so we can see the innards. I cut one Tommy(the rock). Not much going on. That is some very pure and hard pearly agate. Sling shot ammo for moose. I like them as little desert pearls. The white ones are spectacular up close with a pearlesence(not probably a word). Here it is :

James, that cut rock is still pretty . The white on white interior shows activity/texture, and being rimmed by delicious red makes it all quite attractive.
Martian poop outside; very pretty inside.

That first rock that is so white is kind of incredible. Prettier than a fresh water pearl. If those could be found in bead size pieces with the pearly white color you could make a string of beads that to me would put pearls to shame. The iron? stained ones are very nice. You have to rattle them together to feel the density and rub them to appreciate the smooth finish. Sure looks like a sandblasted finish. I find similar finishes on coral that has been in the flowing sand laden water. Here is a scraper made by the ancient folks. Talk about smooth and polished. I found it right in the fastest shoal More from the same shoal. A few are polished. Shoal is called 'Rocky Ford' and the state built a road across it due to it's rocky base to set the bridge on. The land surrounding it is littered with coral chips(100's of acres). The shoals obviously served as butchering areas. No flint beer cans yet; But i keep my eye out.

Man i hope it is coral. It is so well silicified it leaves little traces. They remind me of that hard white agate balls you sent me though.

There is a certain area where they are just everywhere, we call the location "Bubblegum Alley." I've cut into a few of them, and find them much more pretty on the outside, usually a milky-white inside.
They could be Martian poop, I dunno?

James, I'm thinking the party should just be getting started. Seems I've got some (trash talking) catching up to do. Thanks for the welcome back.

Yes Jean. The party is back. Did you have any alien encounters or will you ever tell. I posted those awesome cabs and thank you so much. They were well received. And should be. You got it going on in the cab dept too. For sure.

James, I am glad that you liked them. Thanks for taking photos of them, I had about ran out of time before I left.
No aliens that I am aware of. Only saw one satellite, others saw a shooting star meteor or two - I didn't, though.
I've got it going on in the cab dept. too? Guess I'll take that as a compliment. What other depts. do I got it going on in? The coral was a delight to work. You'll have to let me know which ones you like best, so when I get back to work on them, I can fill the bill.

The little white ones w/the warts gave me bad dreams last night. I know that they are martian parts. Martian kidney stones? Gizzard stones like chickens have? Martian bullets?
They are at their best left natural. The surface is so smooth and pearly.
