The luck blew bad up north yesterday. A very large bay door fell on my son yesterday and broke both of his legs. If a co-worker hadn't pushed him out of the way he would probably be dead. There was worry at first that he would loose one of his legs but it has now been confirmed that they will be able to repair it.
I am not going up because his mother is going to stay with him until he can manage on his own and my daughter ordered me to stay down here for now. She is the head lady in charge of this family now and even I do not cross her.
His live in girlfriend is a full time student in her last semester and she has two young kids so her hands are going to be really full. Jimmy is a big macho baby when it comes to being ill so this is going to be as hard on everyone else as it will be for him. He was sitting up eating chips last night because he would not eat hospital food.
New job he really likes, bosses that really like him, finances starting to get caught up, too much good happening at one time I guess.
Maybe 2015 will be a good year. Jim

If this dark cloud could have a silver lining it the fact he'll still have money coming in (workers compensation) and his medical bills will be paid by some really good insurance.
Hoping for a speedy recovery and no long lasting effects.

Thanks all. Split seconds and inches can go either way. Don't think much about it until it happens that close to home. Jim

Glad he made it out with 2 broken legs instead of a headstone. I had a compound fracture in one of my legs (actually broke it off) and one hospital wanted to cut it off but my wife took me to another hospital 100 miles away (in the back of my pickup) and they were able to save it. It is because of that broken leg that I got back into rocks, so this may be a blessing in disguise, you just may not know it yet.
Sorry I didn't get time to talk to you today. Hope to see you tomorrow. Tony

He had surgery on both legs and the surgeon said it went very well. They worked on him for 4 hours so it must have taken some cutting and polishing.
My stomach is starting to ease up now. I appreciate everyone's concern and well wishes.
I am now set up in a permanent location so I do not have to move until April 15th. There are five other BLM pay locations that my pass covers so I will probably try to hit some of them before I head north. I also picked up an inverter so I will be able to run my computer until the batteries go dead without running the generator.
The shop is now set up in my trailer so I will be able to do some rock work now. I need to get a bunch of rings made so I can put pressure on the RTHers that show up to buy my rings. Or I will give them away, whichever is easier. Jim

Jim,
Sorry to hear about your son, glad that he got through the surgery okay and sounds like he will recover.
Maybe I'll see you at your table this weekend...

So sorry to hear about your kid. I hope the good news continues to flow and he comes out of this with as good a usage as before the accident. Sending prayers.

Sorry to hear about your son Jim. I have three adult sons and that's my exact worry - that they are going to get hurt like that.
Also glad you don't have to head home either - looking forward to meeting you and everyone else next weekend.

Jim, this could have been so much worse! I am thankful that he has had a good surgeon and that he is on the road to recovery! A positive outlook will help him so much! The first few weeks will be tough followed by some physical therapy. I have head that that is even worse but perseverance will get him back where he needs to be and this will only be a bad, distant memory for him. I will keep him in my prayers.

Hope your son heals well. The physical therapy is no fun - but not walking is worse. I had over a year of it and it really works. By the way moving the day before taxes are due is very clever!
